Karlsson (foot) will remain in Ottawa for the remaining two games of the team's road trip to Western Canada, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
This news effectively rules out Karlsson at least until the team returns to the Canadian capital Tuesday to take on Vancouver. Unlike most other players returning from long layoff due to injury, Karlsson not only needs to get healthy, but raise his fitness to levels that will enable him to play the 27 minutes per game that he's been accustomed to receiving for the past five seasons. Look for the Sens to give a better indication of a possible return date for Karlsson after they complete their road trip Saturday.

Karlsson (foot) is back in Ottawa resuming his rehab and skating, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. Meanwhile, the Senators have traveled to Vancouver in preparation for a night game versus the Canucks on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
This news effectively rules Karlsson out for the next contest. It always stings to see an elite player on your bench, but the Swede has been skating and isn't on injured reserve, suggesting that he may not be out too much longer. The Senators' three-game road trip ends with a game against the Oilers on Saturday.

Karlsson (foot) ruled himself out for Saturday's home contest against the Red Wings, Ian Mendes of TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. "I'm not going to play tonight. It's going to be day-to-day here, " said the defenseman.
EDGE Analysis
While it hurts majorly to not have the elite defenseman at one's disposal, the Swede has at least done fantasy owners a bit of a favor by deciding on his status several hours in advance of the daily lineup lock. By sitting this one out, he'll have Tuesday to rest up before the the next game -- a road clash with the Canucks.

Karlsson (foot) remains day-to-day ahead of Saturday's home contest versus the Red Wings, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The elite defenseman missed Opening Night against the Capitals, and the Senators reportedly haven't decided on his status for this next game. Fantasy owners are advised to keep alternatives ready in case Karlsson, who dropped 71 points (17 goals, 54 assists) in 74 games last season, needs more time to heal.

Karlsson could suit up against Detroit on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
This would be welcome news for both the Senators and his fantasy owners if Washington is the only game Karlsson misses. He's a top option on the blue line whenever he returns, whether he's able to play against the Red Wings or not.

Karlsson (foot) will not suit up for Thursday's tilt against Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson remains without a timeline to return, so it was really just a matter of time before coach Guy Boucher officially shut him down. The blueliner is not replaceable -- considering he is one of just three defensemen to record 70-plus points last season -- but, Dion Phaneuf is likely to see the biggest uptick in minutes. When the 27-year-old Karlsson returns to action remains to be seen, however, Saturday's matchup against Detroit seems like a long shot.

Karlsson (foot) has no timeline for his return, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports, while relaying from Senators coach Guy Boucher that the team is likely to start (the regular season) without the star defenseman.
EDGE Analysis
While Karlsson hasn't officially been ruled out for Opening Night against the visiting Capitals on Thursday, fantasy owners with stock in him should prepare alternatives just in case he does end up getting scratched. A certifiably elite skater from the back line, Karlsson dropped a whopping 153 points (33 goals, 120 assists) on opponents in the last two seasons combined.

Karlsson (foot) may not be ready in time for Opening Night against Washington on Oct. 5, James Gordon of The Athletic Ottawareports.
EDGE Analysis
Initial reports indicated that Karlsson would be cleared in time, but the chances that he is available to face Washington seems to be diminishing as the season approaches. Even if the 27-year-old misses a couple of games, he should still be capable of racking up 70-plus points for the third consecutive year as one of the elite blue line fantasy options.

Karlsson (foot) participated in his first training-camp skate Saturday, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports, adding that he thinks the Swede will play in the (Oct. 5) season opener versus Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Brennan noted that Karlsson "looks like his old self," which is a huge development for the elite rearguard, who toughed out multiple foot injuries in the postseason, but wound up having corrective surgery on the left foot in mid-June. A two-time Norris Trophy winner, Karlsson added 71 points (17 goals, 54 assists) in 77 games to complement 27 power-play points last regular season.

Karlsson (foot) hasn't skated since undergoing surgery June 14, but is optimistic about playing at some point in October, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following the operation, a timeline of four months was announced for Karlsson's return, which would land a little more than a week after opening night. Karlsson isn't a player that has to worry about battling for a roster spot, so expect him and the team to be very cautious when it comes to deciding when he makes his season debut. Even if Karlsson is to miss a half-dozen games from the outset of the campaign, he should still be one of the top-two defensemen coming off the board in fantasy drafts.
