Erik Johnson scored a goal and registered an assist in Colorado's 5-4 shootout loss to San Jose Monday evening. Johnson has been very good for the Avalanche this season. He now has six goals and nine assists in 36 games. He also has an impressive plus-18 rating. Jamie McGinn, Gabriel Landeskog and rookie Nathan MacKinnon also scored for the Avalanche, while Ryan O'Reilly added two helpers in the loss.

Erik Johnson produced a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Dallas. He picked up a power-play assist on Matt Duchene's 15th goal of the season. Unfortunately, he was also on the ice for the Stars' game-winning goal late in the third period after his shot was turned aside by goaltender Dan Ellis prior to it being sent up up the ice to Colton Sceviour for the deciding marker. Johnson has 12 points and a plus-18 rating in 33 games this campaign.

Erik Johnson has had a strong start to the 2013-14 campaign and he gave plenty of credit to new coach Patrick Roy. "I feel like this is the best stretch I've had in my career," Johnson said. "A lot of it has to do with Patrick (Roy). You know, I'm a player that can make plays. You go out there and make a mistake and go back to the bench and he's like, 'Don't worry about it. That's a great try. Go out and do it again next shift.' In the past, we played a lot of D-to-D, chip-it-up-the-wall kind of hockey. Now, there's a lot of flow to our game, where we come out of the zone with speed. We're really utilizing our best asset, which is our speed." The Avalanche traded for Johnson with the expectation that they were getting a No. 1 defensemen and it's been difficult for him to fully realize his potential at the NHL level. In 17 games this year, he has picked up seven points, 37 hits, 28 blocks and a plus-10 rating.

Defenseman Erik Johnson produced two assists for the Avalanche in a 4-1 triumph over the visiting Washington Capitals Sunday night. Scoring goals for Colorado were Patrick Bordeleau (second), Nick Holden (first), P.A. Parenteau (sixth) and Gabriel Landeskog (sixth).

Erik Johnson (undisclosed) underwent X-rays after Friday's game and they didn't reveal a break. That was related to a possible injury he sustained during Friday's game. Johnson took part in Saturday's practice and is expected to play on Sunday. He has two goals and five points in 15 games in 2013-14.

Erik Johnson injured himself blocking a shot with seven minutes left in Friday night's 4-2 win over Calgary. Johnson went to the dressing room briefly but returned to finish the game. He did go for x-rays after the contest and the Avs are waiting to get the results. It would be a shame if Johnson is out for any period of time. He's playing the best hockey of his career at the moment.
