Eddie Lack is accepting of the idea that he might not get a lot of playing time behind Roberto Luongo. "I haven't played in (nine) months, I'm sort of used to it," Lack said in reference to his recovery from a hip operation. Although Lack is the favorite to secure the number two job, he's not expected to have much fantasy value in 2013-14.

Eddie Lack has the inside track on Vancouver's backup job behind Roberto Luongo going into this season. He has a one-way contract for the 2013-14 campaign at $850,000, while Joacim Eriksson owns a two-way deal. Lack also feels ready to compete after missing the last part of the 2012-13 season following hip surgery. "I feel there was a lot of negative that came with my injury and everything but I kind of feel there was a lot of positive, too," he said. "The last six months I had a chance to really work on stuff that I didn't really have a chance to work on before. I feel stronger and better out there than I have ever felt."

Eddie Lack will battle Joacim Eriksson for the backup job in Vancouver once the Canucks deal either Roberto Luongo or Cory Schneider. While it had been thought for over a year that Luongo would be the odd man out, it appears that trading Schneider will be a lot easier to do and definitely get a bigger return. Lack missed the latter half of the 2013 season after undergoing hip surgery but will be 100 percent for training camp.

Vancouver Canucks recall Eddie Lack from AHL Chicago. Lack underwent season-ending hip surgery in January, which might've thrown a monkey wrench into any plans to trade Roberto Luongo during the season. Lack was recalled along with a host of other Wolves after Chicago missed the AHL playoffs. He obviously won't play and instead will tag along with the Canucks and get a chance to experience the playoff atmosphere.

Eddie Lack will be sidelined for six months after undergoing hip surgery. Before getting hurt, Lack had been expected to back up Cory Schneider once Roberto Luongo was finally traded. His surgery not only throws a wrench into those immediate plans, but also complicates who will back up Schneider at the start of next season. While we don't expect something like this to keep Vancouver from dealing Luongo, it certainly doesn't help and it's possible the Canucks will now seek a backup goalie in any potential trade.

Eddie Lack's (groin) injury problems could affect the Vancouver Canucks in their dealings with Roberto Luongo. If the Canucks deal Luongo, then they will likely have to pick up a backup goaltender as Lack will be unable to be the man. Brian Brust could be in line as he is a UFA and has been outstanding for nearby Abbotsford of the AHL although they could go for a more experienced backup like Dan Ellis or Ty Conklin. Lack has been out of action since late November with the groin injury and is likely to now go to Vancouver so the training staff can look at him.

Friday night was a rough one for goalies in Milwaukee as the Admirals defeated the Chicago Wolves 7-4. Potential Vancouver Canucks backup Eddie Lack lasted just under a full period, allowing four goals on 13 shots in 19:42 minutes of play. Matt Climie fared a bit better, allowing three tallies in 40 minutes. The Admirals' netminders more or less split time, as Magnus Hellberg (three goals allowed in 31:03) gave way to Jeremy Smith (just one goal allowed in 28:57). Meanwhile, Taylor Beck had two goals, one assist, a +3 rating and six SOG to power an explosive Admirals performance.

Eddie Lack allowed one goal on 25 shots in a 2-1 win by the Chicago Wolves over the Charlotte Checkers Tuesday. Lack has been fantastic this season, sporting a 6-2-0 record to go with a 2.56 GAA and a .915 save percentage. With Roberto Luongo likely to leave town, Lack could find himself in the NHL if and when the season gets underway.

Eddie Lack stopped 27 of 29 shots during regulation and overtime and then stopped all three in the shootout to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 3-2 win over Abbotsford Friday. Lack is expected to be the backup in Vancouver this season once the Canucks deal Roberto Luongo in a move that has long been rumored. The Wolves are now 4-0 in the early going of the AHL and Lack has been sensational with three wins, while giving up only five goals in 77 shots.

If the lockout continues, this AHL season will be a big opportunity for Eddie Lack. It will give Lack a chance to prove what he can do against an improved AHL. That will help him potentially made the jump to the Vancouver Canucks if Roberto Luongo gets traded following the lockout. "(Lack) is ready to make the jump, but he has to be dominant in the American Hockey League," said Wolves GM Wendell Young. "Consistency is what's going to distinguish whether he's going to be a full-time NHL goalie. He has all the talent to dominate games." The Chicago Wolves are Vancouver's AHL affiliate.
