Eddie Lack has signed a two-year extension with the Vancouver Canucks.
He appeared in 46 games with their AHL affiliate in Chicago last season, where he posted a 21-20-3 record with a 2.31 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage. If and when the Canucks trade Roberto Luongo, Lack could be an option as Cory Schneider's backup should the team not sign a veteran understudy. However, he could benefit from more time in the minors to develop his game.

Another aspect that may lead to Roberto Luongo being traded this off-season is the emergence of minor-league goaltender Eddie Lack.
"Eddie is very close," GM Mike Gillis said. "He's definitely going to be a National Hockey League goalie at some point, he's that good. We'll watch him closely in the playoffs with Chicago - he was great last night - I'm just not sure he's absolutely ready and we may not know until September." Lack posted a 2.31 GAA and a .925 save percentage in 46 contests with AHL Chicago this past season.

Eddie Lack has been reassigned to the minors by Vancouver.
He suited up as Cory Schneider's backup on Wednesday night, but the Canucks don't play again until Sunday so he will get some playing time in the minors. Roberto Lunogo is still as day-to-day with an upper-body injury though.
