Larkin had a goal and two assists in Detroit's 5-4 win over Dallas in the Traverse City Prospect Tournament on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
After a stellar freshman season at the University of Michigan, Larkin signed his entry-level contract with the Wings this past spring. A terrific all-around player, Larkin is going to contend for a roster spot in training camp. The 19-year-old was recently ranked as the #15 prospect in the NHL by RotoWire.

Larkin will attend Red Wings training camp and is expected to contend for a roster spot.
EDGE Analysis
The 19-year-old turned pro this spring following a huge freshman season at the University of Michigan, for whom he compiled 15 goals and 32 assists in 35 games. He ended up skating for AHL Grand Rapids during their playoff run and found immediate success, tallying three goals and two helpers in five contests. It's likely that Larkin could use a little more seasoning at the AHL level, but with Pavel Datsyuk (ankle) expected to open the season on IR, the Red Wings could be inclined to take a gamble on Larkin and his offensive upside rather than a more proven bottom-six veteran forward.

Larkin scored twice in Grand Rapids' (AHL) 4-2 Game 2 win over Utica on Monday. Larkin decided to leave the University of Michigan after one season and signed his entry-level contract with Detroit last week. He has since joined the Griffins for their Western Conference final against Utica. Larkin had a pair of shots in his professional debut on Sunday and then potted the two markers on Monday. He had a monster year for the Wolverines (15G, 47P in 35GP) and he has quickly turned into one of the better prospects in the league.
