Larkin picked up two assists in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
EDGE Analysis
The speed demon is looking to build off his breakout 63-point effort in 2017-18. The Wings are Larkin's team now and he should deliver strong fantasy value this season, even if the team is headed to the league basement.

Larkin added a shorthanded goal and an assist Tuesday, proving to be a threat in an 8-6 road win over the Blackhawks.
EDGE Analysis
Largely due to this latest performance, Larkin has one goal and three helpers through three preseason games. Viewed as a top candidate for the captaincy following the retirement of Henrik Zetterberg, the pivot is a treat to watch when skating alongside Andreas Athanasiou; those guys fly down on the ice and cause fits for the opposition in transition. In Tuesday's game, however, Larkin benefited from Athanasiou picking Duncan Keith's pocket and setting him up for a rocket shot that sailed past goalie Anton Forsberg. Larkin and Double-A aren't expected to form a line together during the regular season since they're technically both centers, but it can't hurt to experiment. Instead, expect Larkin to center Tyler Bertuzzi and Anthony Mantha.

There was never any doubt that Larkin would re-up with his hometown team.

Larkin remains unsigned as a restricted free agent, but the Red Wings are not worried about their ability to re-sign the speedy forward, MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Larkin is said to be seeking a six-year contract extension worth approximately $36 million, and while he's the last one that GM Ken Holland needs to get back on the books ahead of the 2018-19 season, neither side seems concerned that a new deal isn't yet in place. "It's heading in the right direction for sure," Larkin said. "I think it'll be soon." While the pivot experienced the dreaded sophomore slump in 2016-17, the Michigan native more than made up for it last season, pouring on 16 goals and a career-high 47 assists over 82 games. It's rare that a player with only three years of NHL experience would earn a long-term deal, but Larkin is a natural leader who wants to be with the Wings for the long haul.

Larkin is the final Red Wings forward to be re-signed ahead of the 2017-18 season, The Detroit News reports, adding that the speedy pivot could net a five-year deal.
EDGE Analysis
The Wings extended Anthony Mantha's contract for two years and $6.6 million Wednesday, and while he's certainly an important part of Detroit's rebuild, it appears that GM Ken Holland is saving his biggest signing for last. Currently, the team only has $2.87 million in available cap space -- according to CapFriendly -- but Johan Franzen (concussion) assuredly will remain on long-term injured reserve, and there's even speculation that team captain Henrik Zetterberg (back) could sit out for the entire season to join Franzen on LTIR. Larkin, who has emerged as a leader of this proud franchise, registered a career-high 47 assists and 63 points last season. All signs point to him inheriting the captaincy when Zetterberg's ready to retire.

Larkin and Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson are the only Americans to have scored twice in the international tournament so far. However, the former has cooled off since striking twice against Team Canada in a thrilling shootout win in the opening contest. Larkin will look to get back on track against Latvia on Thursday.

Larkin led his team with 63 points (16 goals, 47 assists) in the 2017-18 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
The fact that Larkin was the offensive leader for Detroit despite not coming close to a point-per-game average goes to show just how porous this team was in the attacking zone. Indeed, only the Habs, Coyotes and Sabres were inferior to the Wings and their 2.59 goals per game. Still, after experiencing a sophomore slump last season, Larkin showed tremendous improvement at the center position this time around, as he figured out how to harness his speed to benefit his linemates and was better about letting plays fully develop. The Michigan native is not the type of guy who'll rest on his laurels, so don't be afraid to use a high draft pick on him for the 2018-19 fantasy season.

Larkin scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Canadiens on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This gives Larkin a five-game point streak. The 21-year-old has been a perhaps the lone bright spot for the Red Wings this season. Despite a career-low 6.2 shooting percentage, the Michigan native has set a new personal best in points in 62. With a little more puck luck next season Larkin could be primed to really take a step forward.

Larkin scored his 14th goal of the season in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Senators.
EDGE Analysis
It stood as the winner. The goal extends his point streak to three games and five points, and gives him 10 points (five goals, five assists) in his last nine games. Larkin sits one point shy of his first-ever 60-point season.
