There's a chance that Dustin Penner will end up playing alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Before Penner left the Ducks in 2007, the trio had been working very well together. "Yeah, I think he had great success playing with Getzy and Corey," Ducks coach Bob Murray said. "We don't know if the chemistry will still be there but I would imagine it is and hopefully it will be. We're all probably kind of looking forward to trying again because we've had a rotating group of people at that left wing position since he left. It'd be nice if it worked and it was kind of stable for a change." If Penner plays on the Ducks top line, it would obviously be a big boost to his fantasy value.

Dustin Penner has signed a one-year/$2 million deal with the Anaheim Ducks. Penner was an up-and-coming forward when he decided to sign a five-year/$21.25 million offer sheet with the Edmonton Oilers. The move angered then Ducks GM Brian Burke, who ultimately let Penner walk. Penner never developed as the Oilers had hoped and although he has enjoyed some high points in his career, we're not confident that he'll end up getting regular minutes on either of Anaheim's top two lines.

Kings GM Dean Lombardi doesn't like his chances of re-signing Dustin Penner. "I guess it's safe to say I have a limited amount of cap space left, and there certainly isn't going to be enough to - I mean his requirements. I talked to him the other day, and I just told him. This is where we're at. I've only got X amount left," Lombardi said. The Kings are inching towards the cap and still have some restricted free agents left to sign, so Lombardi's response isn't surprising. Penner is an unrestricted free agent.

Los Angeles Kings GM Dean Lombardi confirmed that he had a "feeling-out talk" with Dustin Penner's agent on Sunday. Penner surprised some by re-signing a reasonable one-year deal with Los Angeles for the 2013 season. The good news is that he nearly matched his 2011-12 season point total in far fewer games; the bad news is that he didn't have the same postseason impact. The market might just dictate whether the big forward will be back.

Dustin Penner won't be punished for hitting Dave Bolland in the face with his left forearm during Thursday's game. Penner might not have been intentionally trying to hit Bolland and it was during an open ice battle for the puck. Penner also wasn't assessed a penalty for his actions.

Dustin Penner doesn't mind getting fewer minutes by staying with a winning team like the Los Angeles Kings. Penner averaged just 12:42 minutes in the regular season and has logged 13:26 minutes per game in the playoffs. "Obviously I'd like to be playing more minutes, but you could ask pretty much everybody except maybe Doughty and they would tell you they want to play more," Penner said. "But I'm way more happy winning than getting more minutes. Whatever facet on the team that I'm playing that night, I'm going to do the best to my ability and try and have a positive impact on the game. It doesn't matter. I think that's the best thing about our team - you saw Brownie on the third line - the quote-unquote third line - for a game or two. We fill the spot that we're put it." Having guys like Penner play in support roles gives the Kings the depth they need to take on the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference finals.

Dustin Penner appeared to score a goal on Tuesday, but it was judged to have came after a quick whistle. "Well, I'm sure it's in the rule book," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. "When the whistle goes, right? So what are they going to come and tell us? They're going to come and say they lost sight of the puck and they blew the whistle." The Kings ended up losing the game 2-1 and now the series is even at 2-2.

Kings coach Darryl Sutter is pleased with the play of forward Dustin Penner thus far in the postseason. "He matched his season," Sutter said. "He matched his regular season." Penner is notorious for his varying effort levels, but it's clear the Kings trust him once the playoffs roll around. If you selected him in your playoff pool you should feel confident that he'll be a regular in the Kings lineup.

Dustin Penner's goal with less than a second left in the second period stood up as the game winner Friday night. Penner let loose a wicked slap shot from just inside the blue line as the second period was expiring. The shot seemed to catch Blues goalie Brian Elliott off guard, with Elliott sitting back in the crease instead of challenging the shot. Penner's goal felt like just another piece of bad luck for the Blues, who gave everything they had in the series but were eliminated by L.A. for the second straight season.

The Los Angeles Kings spent much of their practice Friday shooting the puck on net. The Kings were addressing trying to solve St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott, who came into this first-round playoff series with a record of 0-4-1 against them and a 3.04 goals-against average as wel an .898 save percentage. "He's only allowed two goals," LA forward Dustin Penner said. "So we've got to get more shots. We've got to bury our 'Grade A' scoring chances."
