Brown (upper body) has been ruled out for Tuesday night's contest in Columbus.
EDGE Analysis
Brown will be absent for another game after missing out on Sunday's 1-0 loss in Boston. The Kings may miss his efficient offensive production, evidenced by his 14 points in only 15:58 of average ice time, but they won't miss his team-low minus-10 rating. He'll have another chance to suit up for Thursday's road game against the Predators.

Brown will not play in Sunday's game against the Bruins due to an upper-body injury, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brown's 207 consecutive games played streak will come to an end Sunday due to the upper-body issue. Though no specific cause of the injury is obvious, he's considered just day-to-day, leaving open the possibility that he returns Tuesday. Devin Setoguchi seems the likely candidate to draw into the lineup in his place Sunday.

Brown had two helpers in Thursday's 4-1 win against the Red Wings.
EDGE Analysis
The two assists now gives Brown 14 points in 29 games this season, and it's the third time he's managed to score multiple points in a game. He's averaged just 27 points in his past three seasons and was reportedly displeased at losing his captaincy, but he's took his game to a whole new level to prove his doubters wrong. He's on pace for 40 points, which would be the first time he's managed to score more than 30 since the 2011-12 season. A hitting machine with 70 hits on the season already, Brown is slowly playing his back into fantasy relevance.

Brown scored the team's only goal in a 4-1 loss to the visiting Sharks on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Kings' former captain now has a modest 10 points this season but has been struggling of late; prior to Wednesday, he'd recorded just one point over the previous nine games while skating to a minus-8 during that span. Brown is still dishing out a significant amount of hits that helps maintain his value, but it's worth noting that his total of 57 amounts to a pace of 203 over a full season, which would be the lowest of his career.

Brown picked up two penalty minutes and four hits in Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Blackhawks.
EDGE Analysis
Not long after the Sharks ousted the Kings in the conference quarterfinals of the 2016 playoffs, Brown was stripped of his captaincy after holding that distinction for eight seasons. He's been all over the place in the infancy of this campaign, having dropped six goose eggs in the box score in spite of a three-point effort and five points in all. This guy used to be a beast in the fantasy realm -- five straight seasons of 50-plus points (2007-12) -- but he's only averaging 16:26 of ice time as a 31-year-old on a team that stitched the 'C' onto Anze Kopitar's sweater.

Brown potted a goal and added two assists in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
Brown now has points in two straight games after being held off the scoresheet in the Kings' first three. Brown still holds plenty of value in leagues that count hits, as he's had no less than 234 in each of the last three seasons, but his scoring has taken a nosedive. Over those same three campaigns, the former Kings captain has recorded 27, 27 and 28 points respectively -- a far cry from his early 50-60-point days. That said, four points in five games equates to a 66-point pace over a full season (which won't happen), but that's not to say Brown isn't capable of getting over the 30-point hump since he's only 31 years old.

Brown scored a power-play goal and added an assist during Wednesday's 6-1 preseason trouncing of the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
Brown had been the topic of conversation early in the offseason, with general manager Dean Lombardi stating that he would not buy out the winger. Those talks have since been quieted, and with this two-point performance, it's possible the 31-year-old is looking to respond. However, it's just one preseason game, and we'll need to see this type of production translate to the regular season before giving him fantasy relevancy again. The 2003 No. 13 pick hasn't surpassed 30 points since 2011-12, so it's not to be expected.

Kings general manager Dean Lombardi has no immediate plans to buy out Brown, the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Numerous reports suggest that Brown, who was stripped of his captaincy in late May, has an untradeable contract. Specifically, he signed an eight-year contract extension in July of 2013, a deal with an average annual value (AAV) of $5.875 million. Nonetheless, Lombardi opines that Brown is still in the prime of his career, telling reporters, "I really believe he's going to get his game back." The 31-year-old has registered only 82 points (37 goals, 45 assists) in three seasons since renewing his contract with the Silver and Black. His power-play ice time keeps sinking as well, falling to 1:01 in 2015-16. Perhaps losing the captaincy, yet somehow getting a vote of confidence from team brass, will be enough for Brown to turn his career around -- we're not very optimistic that will happen, though.

Brown (wrist) has been stripped of his captaincy with the Kings, TSN's Frank Seravalli reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brown had served in that highly-respected role for eight seasons -- the longest in franchise history -- and he took it in stride by leading the club to Stanley Cup wins in 2012 and 2014. The NHL is consistent with the rest of the sports world in that the league is very much a "what have you done for me lately?" setting. Brown battled a minor wrist injury and went minus-2 with just one point in five games against the Sharks, losing in the quarterfinal round of the current playoffs. That may have been a factor in the team's decision to ditch the stitch on Brown's sweater. The team has yet to name a successor for the captaincy.
