Frankly, the Kings would likely welcome the selection of Brown given that they are tied to him for another five seasons. He notched just 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) over 80 games for the Kings this season and is now 31 years of age. Considering his yearly cap hit would be $5.875 million, it's unlikely the Golden Knights would touch him.

Brown went top shelf for his 12th goal after collecting an assist in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Oilers.

The veteran monarch has looked much more comfortable without the pressure of being the team captain, increasing his point total (34) by six, and doubling his power-play output compared to last year -- no longer deployed at every man-advantage opportunity, Brown has collected four goals and two assists in that situation over 1:31 of ice time this campaign. Still, he's a marginal fantasy option outside of some of the deeper fantasy formats these days.

The gritty veteran also fired four shots on goal and doled out three hits, giving him 147 and 177, respectively, this season. Brown also has amassed 31 points, which is his highest total since 2011-12's 54-point showing, so it's safe to say he's regained some fantasy value in his age-32 campaign.

The tally was the 11th of the year for the former Kings captain, who also snapped a six-game pointless skid in this one. Despite the cold spell, Brown's 29 points are the most since 2011-12, so he's had a bit of a resurgence in his age-32 season, even though his hit (170) and shot (140) totals are off last year's pace of 234 and 218.

Brown finished with a goal and an assist Thursday against Arizona.

All of Brown's contributions came with his team attempting to stage a third-period comeback which ultimately fell short. He has finished with between 27 and 29 points in four consecutive seasons, but sits at 27 now with 26 games still to play.

Brown is providing modest cross-category production with eight goals, 25 points, 112 shots and 137 hits through 53 games. However, those numbers don't warrant a roster spot outside of deep seasonal leagues, and his offensive inconsistency makes him a risky flier in daily contests. The 32-year-old forward is still likely nothing more than a fringe option in most settings.

Brown has been heating up lately, piling up six point in his last five games. His 21 in 43 games this year is a marked improvement from the 27 and 28-point efforts in each of his last three seasons, and -- combined with his whopping 120 hits thus far -- makes him relevant again across a variety of fantasy settings.

Both of Brown's assists came on goals by Tanner Pearson in this 5-1 romp. The 32-year-old veteran now has points in consecutive games after going seven without one. He's skating on an offensive-minded line with Pearson and Jeff Carter despite posting just 18 points in 40 games.

EDGE Analysis

While players are often more optimistic about their own health than trainers tend to be, there's no reason to think that Brown won't suit up Thursday after missing the last two contests to injury. We'll be sure to update his status if he is in fact scratched prior to puck drop, but all signs point to him returning to his bottom-six role in Nashville.
