Brown (wrist) has been stripped of his captaincy with the Kings, TSN's Frank Seravalli reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brown had served in that highly-respected role for eight seasons -- the longest in franchise history -- and he took it in stride by leading the club to Stanley Cup wins in 2012 and 2014. The NHL is consistent with the rest of the sports world in that the league is very much a "what have you done for me lately?" setting. Brown battled a minor wrist injury and went minus-2 with just one point in five games against the Sharks, losing in the quarterfinal round of the current playoffs. That may have been a factor in the team's decision to ditch the stitch on Brown's sweater. The team has yet to name a successor for the captaincy.
