Backes potted a pair of goals -- one on the power play -- and added an assist in Monday's win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
It was a huge night for Backes, as he entered Monday without a point in four straight but factored into all three goals. It's still been a fairly slow start for the captain, but this could be the kind of game that gets him going again.

Backes scored a goal and added an assist in Wednesday's 6-5 OT win over the Blackhawks. He also skated to a plus-2 and picked up two PIM.
EDGE Analysis
Despite now having only six points in 13 games this season, Backes has been much better of late, scoring three goals and recording an assist while taking seven shots on goal in the last three games -- all against quality opponents in Chicago, L.A. and Minnesota. Aside from his scoring woes, the Blues' captain hasn't been as truculent as usual either, spending just six minutes in the sin bin this year. When all is said and done, though, Backes should still be able to flirt with 50+ points and 100 PIM this year, although it wouldn't be entirely surprising if he fell short given the slow start.

Backes scored a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, Saturday against the Wild.
EDGE Analysis
It was the first two goals of the season for Backes, who has struggled out of the gate. The 31-year-old has just four points in 11 games and has been skating on the third line. We'd be more optimistic about Saturday's performance if he was shooting more, but Backes has fired just five shots on goal in his last four games, so we can't expect more goals without more shots.

Backes struggled a bit, but notched an assist for his first point of the season in Tuesday's win against Calgary.
EDGE Analysis
Backes was able to spring Troy Brouwer on a breakaway, which he buried past Jonas Hiller. Despite the assist, Backes struggled on the other end, committing a bad turnover that led to David Jones' goal in the third period. The Blues captain saw his ice time decrease to 15:05 after averaging 19:10 through the first two games of the season. Backes isn't getting any younger and it may be hard for him to reach his career average of 46 points this season.

Backes recorded a goal and as assist Wednesday in a 6-1 win over Minnesota. He was plus-2 with one shot on goal and three hits in the contest.
These were Backes' first points on the playoffs and not surprisingly they came after he was reunited on a line with T.J. Oshie and Alexander Steen, his linemates for most of the season. He will look to carry over this success to Game 5 on Friday at home.

Backes (rest) will not play Saturday against the Wild, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Both the Blues and Wild are resting a number of key players with their playoff spots secure, while also exhibiting a bit of gamesmanship due to the high probability of the two teams facing each other in the first round. Backes will finish the regular season with 26 goals and 58 points over 80 games.

Backes scored a power-play goal and dished out six hits in Sunday's win over the Blackhawks.
A strong night for the second-line center, who extended his point streak to three games. He's now up to 26 goals in 78 games on the season, including 10 power-play tallies. Backes has been a great all-around fantasy option once against this season, recording 57 points, 100 PIM and 178 shots on goal. He's not known for being a huge playoff performer, but perhaps with the Blues poised to make a deep run, this will be the year he turns it up a notch in the postseason.

Backes picked up an assist on the power play Tuesday in a 4-1 win over Calgary. He also picked two PIM, took one shot, delivered two hits, and blocked a shot in the contest.
The Blues' captain is finishing off a fine season in which he has posted 55 points while topping 100 PIM and 200 hits. Backes' value takes a hit in leagues where those secondary contributions don't count, but where they do his is a top-tier forward.

Backes picked up an assist on the winning goal Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime win against Pittsburgh. He was plus-1 with four shots and two blocked shots in the contest.
Backes is up to 54 points on the season to go with a plus-7 rating, which is just about equal to his production from a year ago. He remains a solid second center for your fantasy team and although he has slowed down since a scorching hot January and February, he is a must-start every night.

Backed picked up a power play assist Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the Wild. He was minus-2 and took one hot in the contest.
Backes pushed his current scoring streak to five games and has 12 points in his last 10 games. He has 53 points on the season to go along with 96 PIM and 201 hits once again cementing his reputation as one of the league's top power forwards. He's a top fantasy player in leagues that count hits and PIM.
