Backes scored 9:04 into overtime Wednesday to give St.Louis a 1-0 series lead over Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, as Backes wasn't even attempting to shoot when his centering feed caromed in off the foot of Blackhawks defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk. Backes' goal nonetheless won the game for St. Louis, and gave the captain his sixth tally in his 30th playoff appearance.

Backes (lower body) will play in Game 1 on Wednesday against the Blackhawks, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backes sat out the final three games of the regular season because of the lower-body issue, but that was likely a precautionary move to keep him healthy for the playoff haul ahead. He should slot in on the team's second line alongside Patrik Berglund and Alexander Steen, and those considering him in playoff pools and daily lineups needn't worry about his health unless something further surfaces.

Backes (lower body) practiced Tuesday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backes hits practice ice after missing the final three games of the regular season due to sustaining a lower-body injury on April 4. His playing status is yet to be confirmed, but the 31-year-old Blues captain is likely to take the ice in Wednesday's Game 1 match-up against the Blackhawks.

Backes (lower body) did not participate in Monday's practice, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backes, who missed the final three games of the regular season due to the injury, sounded hopeful after Saturday's season-ending loss that he'd be ready to play when the Blues kick off the postseason Wednesday against the Blackhawks. Head coach Ken Hitchcock didn't have an update on Backes, but is hopeful he'll practice Tuesday.

Backes (lower body) said there's "nothing hold me back at this point" and is expected to be ready for the postseason, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backes was held out of the final three games of the regular season after sustaining a lower-body injury 10 days ago. Judging from Backes' comments, it sounds like the three-game rehab time was more precautionary than anything.

A lower body injury will keep Backes out for the rest of the regular season.
EDGE Analysis
Backes will then be re-evaluated after the Blues complete their regular season slate Saturday, so at this stage it's too early to get a handle on his viability in postseason formats. Backes, who has suited up for all 79 of the Blues' games this season to date, thus concludes his 2015-16 campaign with 21 goals and 45 points to go along with 83 PIM.

Backes registered a goal and an assist in Sunday's win over the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
The tally came on the man advantage, giving Backes his 13th power-play point of the season. The center has racked up six points in the last four games, but he'll need to keep up that pace over the club's final three games in order to reach the 50-point plateau for the third year in a row.

Backes tallied a power-play goal and two PIM in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
Backes scored for the first time in four games, and now has put up 20 goals on the season. The 31-year-old has certainly been quiet on the scoresheet in the last few games, but he has recorded 12 PIM and 18 shots on goal in the last seven games, giving him plenty of value here in the last few games of the season.

Backes recorded an assist, two PIM and three hits in Saturday's 4-0 victory over Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Backes has now hit 40 points on the year, a feat the center has reached in three straight seasons. The 31-year-old probably won't hit 50-plus like he did his last two campaigns, as production has come a bit more inconsistently, but it's hard to complain too much about his numbers in the bottom-six role. Even still, it'd be nice to see Backes finish strong with how well St. Louis is playing as of late.

Backes scored two goals to go with a plus-2 rating, two PIM and five hits Wednesday in Edmonton, but it wasn't enough in a 6-4 loss.
EDGE Analysis
He held up his end of the bargain, particularly with his third-period tally, which drew the Blues within a goal, but they couldn't complete the comeback. Backes had missed the scoresheet in three straight coming in and has disappointed overall this season, so his beleaguered fantasy owners have to be thrilled over this one. With just 39 points on the season, he'll need a serious surge over the last 10 games if he wants to post his fifth straight (non-strikeout-shortened) campaign of 50-plus.
