Daniel Carcillo could end up serving a 10 or 20 game suspension for using physical force against an official during Thursday's contest.
Such an act comes with serious automatic suspensions. The difference between a 10 and 20-game suspension would be Carcillo's intent. If it's determined that he "applied physical force" against an official without an intent to injure, then he would be handed a suspension of at least 10 games. If his actions "could reasonably be expected to cause injury," then he'll get a suspension of at least 20 games. However, there is a lesser three-game automatic suspension for using force for the sole purpose of trying to break free of an official, so there's a chance he might end up with that punishment instead.

Daniel Carcillo's personality isn't in line with what Brad Richards expected based on the stories he's heard about the enforcer.
Carcillo has a lengthy suspension history that has colored some people's judgement on him. "I don't know if he changed or it was overblown, but when he came in, he was real quiet, very professional," Richards said of Carcillo. "He's in the gym every day, takes care of body, practices hard, works hard. So from what I heard - and that was a long time ago - he was a lot different. Professionalism and all that." The Rangers acquired Carcillo from the Kings on Jan. 4. He started the 2014 playoffs in the press box, but Carcillo was inserted into the lineup for Game 3 on Tuesday and scored a goal. He only logged 8:57 minutes, but he did get ice time with Rick Nash and Derek Stepan.

Daniel Carcillo scored a goal in the Rangers' 4-1 victory on Tuesday.
Carcillo was a healthy scratch for the first two games of the Rangers' first round series against Philadelphia, but after the night Carcillo had, he should stay in the lineup for Game 4. "He's such a big part of the team," said Dan Girardi. "He'll do anything. He's blocking shots and I thought he scored a big goal. He does a bit of everything. He has Stanley Cup experience."

The New York Rangers might use Daniel Carcillo Tuesday night.
Rangers coach Alain Vigneault wouldn't confirm the lineup change, but he was more than willing to praise Carcillo. "Dan's an experienced player, he brings energy to a team," Vigneault said. "He's a hard, smart player. He goes to the tough areas and when he has an opportunity to lay a good, physical hit, he does that. With him in our lineup this year, we've had a very good record." Jesper Fast will probably be a healthy scratch if Carcillo draws into the lineup.

Daniel Carcillo scored a goal in the Rangers' 3-1 victory over Vancouver.
That gives Carcillo four goals and five points in 54 games this season. He used to chip in a decent amount of points for an enforcer, but that is no longer the case.
