The San Jose Sharks are reportedly among the teams showing interest Daniel Alfredsson. The Boston Bruins have also been courting Alfredsson, but regardless it's still very likely that he'll re-sign with the Senators. Alfredsson is reportedly looking for a two-year deal worth about $12 million, but he might still end up with a one-year contract.

The Boston Bruins already reached out to Daniel Alfredsson's camp Wednesday, a source tells ESPN's Pierre LeBrun. Alfredsson announced he was planning to return to the NHL late last week and has been discussing a contract with the Senators since then. Alfredsson is reportedly seeking a two-year deal in the range of $12 million while the Senators would prefer the contract to pay around $8 million over two seasons. It's highly unlikely Alfredsson will leave Ottawa, especially for a rival club like Boston, but situations like these are always good for creative leverage for the player.

Daniel Alfredsson is looking for a two-year contract worth roughly $6 million per year, according to the Ottawa Sun. The Sun reports the Senators countered with two years and $8 million total. The two sides continue to talk, although Alfredsson can officially begin talking to other teams Wednesday. It would be an absolute stunner if Alfredsson left Ottawa and we expect something to get done between the two parties fairly soon.

Daniel Alfredsson will probably re-sign with Ottawa, but his agent can listen to offers from other teams starting at 12:01 am ET tonight. The long-time Senators forward isn't likely to go anywhere via free agency and it's still his priority to stay with the Ottawa organization. However, it won't stop some teams from asking questions or making offers. TSN and ESPN insider Pierre LeBrun speculates that Boston could be one of those clubs.

The Ottawa Senators have confirmed that Daniel Alfredsson will play in the 2013-14 campaign. Alfredsson had been considering retirement, but it looks like the 40-year-old forward will stay on for at least one more season. He had 10 goals and 26 points in 47 games in 2013. The Senators still need to sign Alfredsson to a new contract, but that shouldn't be a significant problem.

Daniel Alfredsson says he will return to the Ottawa Senators next season. There was question as to whether the 40-year-old Alfredsson would return next season, although GM Bryan Murray has been optimistic the captain would be back in Ottawa. Alfredsson will likely operate on a series of one-year deals from here on out, much like Teemu Selanne has in Anaheim. Alfredsson had 10 goals and 26 points in 47 regular-season games last season.

Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray says he will have an answer from Daniel Alfredsson on his plans for the 2013-14 season by Friday. Murray says he believes Alfredsson will return, but it's hard to speculate on these matters. Alfredsson was recently left off Sweden's roster for their Olympic orientation camp, which sparked rumblings he had told officials he wouldn't be playing next season. Alfredsson had 10 goals and 26 points in 47 regular-season games and added 10 points in 10 postseason contests.

Daniel Alfredsson wasn't named on the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation's list of 35 players for their orientation camp for the Sochi Olympics. His omission has some wondering if he has told Swedish officials that he won't be back next season. However, the list is subject to change and he may have just been left off since he hasn't decided if he's going to continue playing yet.

The Ottawa Senators have talked to captain Daniel Alfredsson about returning for another season, but the veteran forward hasn't made a decision yet regarding his future. "We have talked, I've talked to Alfie in the past couple of days," GM Bryan Murray said Tuesday. "I told him to take whatever time he needs and come back to me when you can -- as early as you can, that would help me -- but do whatever you have to do to satisfy your family to make sure you're ready to play." Alfredsson can become an unrestricted free agent on July 5, but if he decides to return then a contract should come together quickly with Ottawa.

Daniel Alfredsson considers winning the 2013 Mark Messier Leadership Award a "tremendous honor." "It's a great award because it recognizes all the work you do on and off the ice, and especially coming from a guy like Mark Messier, who exemplifies hard work and leadership in our game," Alfredsson said. The question now is whether or not he'll return for the 2013-14 campaign and he doesn't have an answer yet. If he decides he wants to extend his career, he should have no problem getting a new contract out of the Ottawa Senators.
