Daniel Alfredsson doesn't foresee himself playing anywhere else in his final season. With all of Ottawa's injuries, it continues to play well. Some thought maybe the Sens would entertain moving Alfredsson if they fell out of it, and so the captain could have a chance to go out on top, but that doesn't seem very likely now. "I've been here so long I can't see anything else, but also I never say never. And don't read anything into me saying that," said Alfredsson with a chuckle. "I just feel that this is where I belong and I'm having a lot of fun with this team, especially this year."

Daniel Alfredsson has returned to the point on the power play with Erik Karlsson sidelined for the rest of the season. "I like playing the point, I kind of missed it a bit," he said. "We'll try it and see what happens. We didn't really get much zone time (against the Islanders Tuesday)." Sergei Gonchar occupies the other side of the blueline when the Senators have the man advantage. Alfredsson has four goals and 10 points in 16 games this season.

Daniel Alfredsson netted a goal in Ottawa's 2-1 shootout win Monday. Jakob Silfverberg and Kyle Turris each registered an assist for Ottawa. Silfverberg also netted the game-winning goal in the shootout.

Daniel Alfredsson did not skate with the rest of his teammates on Saturday. We don't know if this is injury related or just a morning off for the veteran. Colin Greening took his place on the Sens' top line in the scrimmage. Stay tuned.

Daniel Alfredsson was not happy about the injury to Erik Karlsson Wednesday night. He's upset for Karlsson, who soaks up big minutes for the Senators and was playing very well during the 2013 season, and he was not pleased with Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke whose skate caused the laceration to Karlsson's left Achilles tendon. "I don't know it it's intent to injure, but I don't know why you would hit somebody like that in that situation," said Alfredsson.

Despite the overtime loss, Daniel Alfredsson was happy with how the Senators played against the Hurricanes. "We played solid, especially in the second period when we went at them pretty good and had a lot of chances, Cam Ward was the only reason they were in it, had a chance to tie it up and win it in overtime," said Alfredsson. "Overall, it was a good effort, but we wish we could have had this one. ... It's encouraging that we keep on improving and playing the way we want to play."

Daniel Alfredsson scored his third goal of the year in a 3-2 overtime loss for Ottawa against Carolina. The team's captain has seven points in 10 games. Erik Karlsson's fifth marker of the campaign represented the Senators' other goal in the contest.

Daniel Alfredsson scored for the first time in the Senators' 5-1 win over the Canadiens on Wednesday night. Ottawa has to be happy about the across-the-board contributions. Five different players scored: Alfredsson, Chris Phillips, Jim O'Brien, Chris Neil and Mika Zibanjad. And three different ones notched two assists apiece: Colin Greening, Zach Smith and Andre Benoit, who was in the lineup for Sergei Gonchar. Neil (nine) and Smith (five) also helped fantasy owners out in the penalty-minute department, too.

Daniel Alfredsson returned to action on Tuesday January 29.

Daniel Alfredsson is expected to be back in the lineup on Tuesday after he sat out Sunday's shootout loss to Pittsburgh due to the flu. The Ottawa captain hasn't scored a goal yet this season despite 11 shots, but he has contributed three assists in four games.
