Daniel Alfredsson didn't skate on Sunday after being elbowed in the head by New York's Carl Hagelin during the second period of Game 2's 3-2 overtime win. He is considered questionable to play in Game 3 on Monday night, but coach Paul MacLean appeared to be optimistic about the situation. The Senators bench boss said the club's captain was "feeling good" despite not taking to the ice. Hagelin has received a three-game suspension for the infraction.

There is no further word on Daniel Alfredsson's condition. The Senators are obviously concerned that their captain sustained a concussion on the elbow to the head he received from Carl Hagelin Saturday night. Alfredsson missed five games earlier this season with a previous concussion and the likelihood he sustained a second concussion is quite good. Let's hope that is not the case. We will provide any updates once more is known.

Daniel Alfredsson left Saturday's game due to a high elbow from the Rangers' Carl Hagelin. Alfredsson will not return to the contest. The severity of the injury is of course not known, but obviously there is reason to be concerned given the nature of the hit.

With the Ottawa Senators not putting up much of an offensive fight in their 4-2 Game 1 loss to the Rangers on Thursday, coach Paul MacLean is thinking of reuniting captain Daniel Alfredsson on a line with Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek for Game 2 in New York today. "It's definitely a line that can generate offense on a consistent basis," MacLean said. "If we do that, it makes us have to juggle things. We might do that in the game or we might do that before the game. We haven't decided yet." MacLean doesn't like the idea of putting all his eggs in one basket, so it wouldn't be surprising if Colin Greening started with Spezza and Michalek because it gives the team a better chance to spread around the offense. Alfredsson has played well with center Kyle Turris and winger Nick Foligno, but has a history of chemistry with Spezza and Michalek.

After being a late scratch on Sunday due to a flu bug, Daniel Alfredsson was back in Ottawa's lineup on Tuesday night. He played nearly 20 minutes in the Senators' 2-1 loss to Carolina and contributed his 32nd assist of the season on Jason Spezza's late marker in the third period. Alfredsson has recorded at least a point in his last four games and he finished the match with four shots on goal.

Daniel Alfredsson was absent from Sunday's win over the New York Islanders because of the flu. The Ottawa captain has been hot of late with five goals and three assists in his previous three games. The Senators return to action on Tuesday when they host Carolina and we'll let you know if Alfredsson will be healthy enough to play by then.

Again, Daniel Alfredsson and Jason Spezza won't play for the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. Both valuable forwards will miss an important contest against the New York Islanders. Losing Spezza likely has a bigger fantasy impact but Alfredsson has been a lot better than many expected in 2011-12, too.
