Cory Conacher scored the first goal of Syracuse's 4-1 win over Adirondack on Friday night.
Last year's AHL Rookie of the Year and MVP continues to dominate the AHL. Despite his small size (5-foot-8, 175 pounds) Conacher can fly on the ice and has a great nose for the net. The Lightning winger has six goals and six assists on the season. Matt Taormina had a goal and an assist in the win as well.

Conacher was selected as the American Hockey League's Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year last year and is off to another great start this season. He is a bit small (5'8", 175 pounds), but still managed to record 39 goals, 80 points, and 114 penalty minutes in 75 games last season.

Tampa prospect Cory Conacher was selected as the American Hockey League's Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year.
Quite a haul for the undrafted former Canisus College scoring star. Conacher scored 36 goals and registered 76 points, second in the AHL this season, to earn the honors. At 22, Conacher will get a chance to crack the Lightning lineup next season. He is a bit small (5'8", 175 pounds), but on a team that features Martin St. Louis, that should not be a problem. Keep an eye on him.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed undrafted forward Cory Conacher to a two-year, two-way contract.
The 22-year-old is enjoying an excellent year with the Bolts' AHL affiliate in Norfolk, where he has generated 30 goals, 64 points and 90 penalty minutes. The diminutive winger leads all rookies in scoring and he is tied for third in the AHL in points.

Cory Conacher is doing everything in his power to land an NHL deal with the Lightning.
Conacher, who will turn 22 on Wednesday, went undrafted and is currently playing for Tampa Bay's AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals on a minor league contract. Conacher has 13 goals and is the top AHL rookie with 27 points in 24 games. However, as a player over 20, if the Tampa Bay were to sign him and call him up for even one game, it would cost them a year that he's waiver exempt. For that reason, there's a good chance that he'll spend the entire 2011-12 campaign in the minors.
