McDavid deflected a shot past Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen on Tuesday for the first goal -- and point -- of his career.
EDGE Analysis
File that one away mentally for any NHL trivia competitions you find yourself in. McDavid's still struggling with faceoffs, losing six of nine Tuesday, but it's nice to see him break the seal, and it's certainly not hard to believe that this tally could open the floodgates for this year's No. 1 overall pick.

McDavid's scoreless streak continued Saturday against Nashville. He played 18 1/2 minutes and fired two shots on net, and continued to struggle on faceoffs (two-for-11).
EDGE Analysis
He will almost certainly improve those faceoff numbers (five-for-24 so far) and we can't fault his lack of production -- he's played against two of the NHL's best defensive corps in St. Louis and Nashville.

McDavid will center the Oilers' second line in Saturday's game against the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Todd McLellan does not feel that McDavid and Taylor Hall "have connected real well, even throughout the exhibition season," so he decided to elevate Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to the top line and slot McDavid into the second line for Saturday's contest. McLellan will be hoping the change provides a spark on the heels of McDavid's quiet debut Thursday night.

McDavid was held scoreless with two shots and a minus-1 rating in his NHL debut Thursday against the Blues.
EDGE Analysis
The long awaited debut for McDavid was a disappointing one. He struggled mightily in the face-off dot, finishing three for 10. McDavid showcased his speed in the third period, blowing past Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester for a scoring chance, but was denied by Brian Elliott. He played 18:07 and saw 1:48 on the man advantage, which is encouraging. The Oilers are still a very young team and will continue to learn under new coach Todd McLellan, so McDavid owners will have to be patient.

McDavid will make his NHL debut Thursday in St. Louis, report Oilers web site.
EDGE Analysis
McDavid will open on a line with Taylor Hall and Anton Slepyshev. The fact that Hall is playing on a line with McDavid tell you all you need to know about how much ice time the expected superstar will get. This line is either the first or second line for Edmonton depending upon how you look at it so the Oilers feel that McDavid is more than ready for prime time.

McDavid skated on the top line during practice Friday, according to the Oilers web site.
EDGE Analysis
What line McDavid will skate on might be the most important question in Oilers' camp for fantasy owners. He centered a line with Taylor Hall and Teddy Purcell flanking him. Coach Todd McLellan wants to split up Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Hall to go with two solid lines rather than one power line. This is good news for McDavid owners as Hall is a top sniper but it's still early in training camp and nothing is written in stone.
