McDavid (collarbone) will not return to the lineup before the NHL's All-Star Weekend, which takes place Jan. 30-31.
EDGE Analysis
McDavid reportedly took line rushes in practice Wednesday, at which point his return seemed imminent, but now the countless fantasy owners rostering the prized rookie have little choice but to continue waiting out his injury. It will be interesting to see how McDavid's absence affects the race for the Calder Memorial Trophy. After all, he's only seen 13 games in this rookie campaign and first-year studs like Max Domi (Coyotes) and Dylan Larkin (Red Wings) are dropping jaws while McDavid recovers.

McDavid (collarbone) was taking line rushes in practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
McDavid was practicing on an all injury line with Nail Yakupov (ankle) and Liro Pararinen (undisclosed). His return could come almost any day now and the Oilers are hoping his play could possibly spark a playoff run. We don't know who his linemates will be as the Oilers were doing plenty of mixing and matching before the injury to see with whom he worked best but either way he will see his share of even strength and power play time.

McDavid (clavicle) is nearing a return to action, reports the Edmonton Journal.
EDGE Analysis
It seems that McDavid only has to conquer the final hurdle, the one that requires him to prove to the organization that he is ready to play once again. The Oilers are going to play it safe with their prized rookie so although he may look ready to go in practice, they still may give him another 7-10 days to make sure the bone is 100% healed. o'

McDavid (collarbone) returned to practice Friday, reports the Oilers web site.
EDGE Analysis
The practice wasn't a long one but this would seem to be a big step in the right direction for McDavid to return to the team. McDavid has been out since Nov. 6 with a broken left clavicle (26 games missed so far). The Oilers haven't stated what the next step is or when they expect him to play in an actual game but that may take place before the middle of the month.

McDavid (shoulder) is expected to be held out until after the All-Star break, despite prior reports that his recovery was ahead of schedule, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
While just about everyone wants to see this kid return as soon as possible, it makes complete sense that the Oilers do not want to rush their crown jewel back from injury. McDavid has been taking part in morning skates for the last week or so, but the Oilers want to see that he is 100% before returning from his injury.

McDavid is making progress after sustaining a broken clavicle Nov. 3, but his return date remains unclear, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
"The return [date] I don't really know yet," McDavid said. "The bone only heals as fast as it heals. Nothing I can really do about that. Just trying to be as ready as I can for when I come back." With Edmonton posting a 7-3-0 record in December, the team is learning how to succeed without its prized prospect in the lineup. Still, there is plenty of time for McDavid to make his return and help the Oilers lobby for a playoff spot. The Kings are comfortably sitting in first place in a weak Pacific Division with 42 points, while the Oilers have 32 points and are just four points behind the second-place Sharks, despite a sixth-place standing. Even with his injury, McDavid's name has commonly been included in discussions about the Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded to the most proficient rookie.

EDGE Analysis
After an ill-fated crash into the boards Tuesday against the Flyers, McDavid underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured clavicle and is expected to miss several months. Based on the mega prospect's current timetable for a return, McDavid probably won't be back to drop the jaws of hockey fans until early 2016.
