McDavid -- playing on the same ice as fellow rookie Jack Eichel -- wasted no time showing why he was taken first in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, lighting the lamp just 22 seconds into the game. He later added an unassisted overtime goal to secure the victory for the Oilers. The 19-year-old now has a two-game point streak and four points in his last five games. After missing extensive time due to a broken clavicle, McDavid is up to 31 points for the season.

McDavid recorded a helper and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.

McDavid is looking like a veteran on the ice, notching points in four straight. Unfortunately for the Oilers, the rookie's stellar play has only resulted in three wins this month. Even so, the 19-year-old star has tallied 16 points in February, and if you held on to him through the collarbone injury, continue to reap the benefits.

McDavid netted a goal on four shots in 20:00 minutes of ice time in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild.

Since returning from a 37-game absence on Feb. 2 due to a clavicle injury, the number one draft pick has racked up 14 points in nine games. He's also got points in back-to-back games, with a goal and an assist in those games. If the 19-year-old can keep himself healthy, he's going to be able to put up big numbers on a consistent basis throughout his career.

McDavid had an enormous game Thursday, potting two goals and assisting on three in a 5-2 victory over the Maple Leafs.

EDGE Analysis

There's a reason this kid was picked first overall. McDavid exploded for a plus-4 spectacle, showcasing his skills and picking apart Toronto. That's now three straight with points, and while this may be his best game to date, the 19-year-old has only lightly scratched his potential so far. As long as he stays healthy, big games will be aplenty.

McDavid assisted on a pair of Jordan Eberle goals -- one on the power play -- in Thursday's 7-2 victory over Ottawa.

EDGE Analysis

The return of McDavid has certainly lit a fire under the Oilers' offense, as they've racked up 12 goals in two games with him back in the lineup coming out of the All-Star break. McDavid's factored into five of those, showing instant chemistry with Eberle and Benoit Pouliot. The competition won't always be this easy, but it will be in their next game, as they draw the struggling Canadiens on Saturday.

Despite the lengthy absence, the 19-year-old will be expected to pick up where he left off and start chasing Artemi Panarin and Jack Eichel for the rookie points lead.

McDavid (collarbone) said he's "not too sure right now" in regards to returning Feb. 2 against Columbus.

The injured phenom was expected to make his return to the lineup as soon as the All-Star break concluded, but McDavid's comment casts some doubt on that possibility. That being said, McDavid also acknowledged that if he didn't suit up Feb. 2, his return should come shortly after.

McDavid is only being sent to Bakerfield so that he can practice all week, he will not play in any games. McDavid is expected to join the Oilers after the All-Star break and should then become the number one center for Edmonton.

EDGE Analysis

With center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins suffering a long-term hand injury Monday night, Oilers fans are desperately wanting McDavid to return to the game ice. However, previous reports indicated that the rookie phenom would be held out through the All-Star break (Jan 30-31). According to Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, McDavid accompanied the Oilers on the road trip to Tampa Bay and skated with the extras and we believe that only fueled speculation that his return could be imminent. Then again, there haven't been any official reports stating exactly when McDavid will return for a game.
