Chris Kreider was one of three New York Rangers to have two-point nights in their 3-0 victory in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference final against the New Jersey Devils on Monday night.
Dan Girardi broke the two-period scoreless tie 53 seconds into the third period on a play that showcased Kreider's speed, as he got to the loose puck in the offensive zone, stopped and waited, then passed the puck back to Girardi, who was coming on the ice in a line change, for the one-timer. Kreider scored at the 12-minute mark of the third period on the power play off of a slick back-handed flick pass from Artem Anisimov. Girardi had the secondary assist on the play. Anisimov also potted the empty netter with 1:27 left. Michael Del Zotto, Brian Boyle and Ruslan Fedotenko had the other assists. Del Zotto also led all skaters with six shots on goal, while shutdown defensemen Girardi and Ryan McDonagh led with a plus-2 rating.

Chris Kreider practiced alongside Derek Stepan and Ryan Callahan on Friday.
After spending three games on the Rangers' fourth line, Kreider is now projected to play on the second line in Game 7 on Saturday. This is a risky move by the Rangers, but Kreider has been, for the most part, great so far. He went straight from playing in the NCAA to the NHL postseason.

Chris Kreider has been limited to fourth line duties over the past three games.
Kreider went from playing 26:17 minutes in Game 3 to just 7:34 minutes in Game 4 due to defensive mistakes. He then logged 6:57 minutes in Game 5 and 6:06 in Game 6. The fact that Kreider went straight from the NCAA to the NHL playoffs is impressive, but it looks like he won't play a big role n Game 7 on Saturday.

Chris Kreider was used sparingly again in Game 6 versus Washington.
He logged just 6:06 of ice time in the Rangers' 2-1 loss, marking the third straight game that the rookie forward has played less than eight minutes. Kreider played a whopping 26:17 in Game 3, but his defensive shortcomings appear to be hurting his playing time in what has been a tight-checking and very close series. "He's a young man trying to learn the game," said coach John Tortorella. "I think he's improving and we'll see where it goes." Kreider has two goals and one assist in 11 postseason contests, but he isn't likely to provide much offense on the fourth line.

Rangers coach John Tortorella thinks Chris Kreider will bounce back from his rough showing on Saturday.
Kreider benched for the third period of the contest after being partially responsible for Washington's first two goals. Kreider understood why he was benched on Saturday. "I made a couple of mistakes defensively, one risky play obviously, I had good intentions but I didn't play the percentages and threw it away, I didn't execute," Kreider said. "The other one I wasn't swivel-headed enough off the guy and wasn't able to help." Although he had no NHL experience going into the playoffs, Kreider has been a big part of the Rangers' playoff run.

Chris Kreider was benched during the third period of Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Capitals.
Kreider was on the ice and partially responsible for Washington's first two goals and as a result had only 7:34 of ice time in the game. Rookies tend to be inconsistent. Don't forget that at the draft table next season when considering the selection of Kreider.

Chris Kreider scored a goal and registered an assist in a 3-1 victory Saturday.
Kreider was given a lot of responsibility in Game 7 of the first round and he stepped up in the Rangers' second-round opener. He'll definitely be worth keeping a close eye on in the Rangers' 2012 training camp. Brad Richards and Artem Anisimov accounted for New York's other two goals. Ruslan Fedotenko, Derek Stepan, Ryan McDonagh, and Marian Gaborik each registered an assist.

Chris Kreider logged 18:21 minutes in the New York Rangers' 2-1 win in Game 7 on Thursday.
Rangers coach John Tortorella showed a lot of faith in Kreider by giving him so much playing time in a critical contest. Kreider joined the Rangers straight out of Boston College and hasn't played in a regular season AHL or NHL game. Still, he's already been a factor in this playoff run and he should continue to get ice time in the second round.

Kris Kreider impressed Ranger coach Jon Tortorella with his performance in a limited role Saturday.
Kreider played 7:34 in Saturday's 2-0 loss to Ottawa, up from the 3:29 he played in Game 4. Tortorella liked what he saw from the rookie. "I see him maybe getting more minutes because some other guys simply haven't done the job and we're at that situation right now," Tortorella said. Keep an eye on Kreider as he has a wealth of scoring potential.
