After a slow start to the season in which Coyle tallied just two points in seven outings, the winger has put up one goal and three helpers in his last four contests. The biggest concern for the Massachusetts native's game right now is his lack of power-play production. Despite averaging 2:27 with the man advantage, the 26-year-old has just one power-play goal to show for it.

Coyle recorded an assist Saturday in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Golden Knights.

Coyle was the lone distributor on defenseman Mathew Dumba's impressive point shot that weaved through traffic and beat Marc-Andre Fleury. Coyle is currently on a checking line, but he should continue to get ample offensive opportunities as long as he continues sharing the ice with potent playmakers like Dumba.

Coyle, 26, had offseason surgery on both wrists but was always expected to be healthy in time for training camp. His participation in Monday's game isn't all that surprising. Coyle put up 37 points in 2017-18, appearing in 66 games and remains one of Minnesota's most consistent point producers. Heading into last year, the native of Weymouth, Massachusetts had played every game the previous three seasons, so durability has never been an issue for Coyle.

Coyle underwent surgery Friday to heal tendons on each wrist, but is expected to be fully recovered by the beginning of the 2018-19 season, Michael Russo of The Atlantic reports.

The news certainly explains the lack of points put up by Coyle to close the season, as he failed to find the scoresheet in the postseason and had just three assists his last 10 regular season games. The injury caused Coyle discomfort when he was stick handling and shooting the puck, and he's been reportedly banged up since January. There's no clear time table for when the 26-year-old will return to offseason workouts, but the typical recovery time is around two-to-four weeks, so if he doesn't experience any setbacks he should be healed up around July.

Some hockey pundits had Coyle pegged as an X-factor coming into the series; he's not a household fantasy name but with the winger providing 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) and a plus-8 rating through 66 games in the regular season, fantasy owners and Wild fans alike probably expected much more from Coyle in the first-round series. Minnesota will clean out its lockers after a third consecutive year of being eliminated in the conference quarterfinals, though Coyle's under contract with the club for two more seasons.

He's failed to live up to expectations in that category -- Coyle scored 21 and 18 goals in 2015-16 and 2016-17, respectively -- and as a result, he only has 30 points. Injuries haven't helped, though, as he's only played 53 contests.

Look no further than Coyle if you're searching for an underrated fantasy winger. Despite barely averaging 16 minutes of ice time since the beginning of Februray, the American has posted a decent eight points (three goals, five assists) through 17 games.

The 25-year-old missed time back in October and really hasn't been able to get going this season. After posting a career-high 56 points in 2016-17, he has just eight goals and 23 points in 39 games this season. However, Coyle does have four goals in the last six games, so perhaps he's trending towards a strong finish.
