Braydon Coburn is leading the Philadelphia Flyers in total ice time this season.
There was speculation over the summer that the Flyers might trade Coburn after the acquisition and signing of defenseman Mark Streit, but Coburn has proven to be an important part of their team. In addition to eating a ton of minutes, he's second on the team with 49 blocked shots, and has been leading the Flyers' penalty killing efforts. At the same time, his limited offensive upside makes him one of those defensemen that's far more valuable to his team than he is to most fantasy owners.

The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly open to trading Braydon Coburn.
Coburn had five points and 41 penalty minutes in 33 games this season. He comes with a $4.5 million annual cap hit, so dealing him would certainly help their cap situation.

The Flyers will have eight NHL defensemen on their roster once they officially announce Mark Streit's contract.
While you can never have enough defensemen, it'll be hard for the Flyers to enter next season with their current group. Not counting Chris Pronger, Philly's defensemen will account for over 43 percent of the team's payroll next season despite only accounting for 30 percent of the roster, according to Philly.com. That leads beat writer Frank Seravalli to think someone will be dealt, with Braydon Coburn's $4.5 million cap hit the most likely suspect. The Flyers would surely like to hold onto the 28-year-old blueliner, but his age, size and speed make him their best trading chip. The Oilers and Flames are reportedly interested in Coburn, but keep an eye out for Anaheim, which is reportedly seeking a top-four defenseman in any trade for sniper Bobby Ryan.

Braydon Coburn has apparently been given a clear bill of health from his shoulder injury.
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said that Andrej Meszaros is the team's only player who hasn't received clearance. Coburn missed the last 15 games of the season due to a separated shoulder. He should be expected to be fine for next year.

Oilers radio commentator Bob Stauffer speculated Edmonton could chase Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn this offseason due to Philadelphia's salary cap issues.
Stauffer speculates that Coburn and his $4.5 million cap hit could be a liability for the Flyers after Philly agreed to terms with defenseman Mark Streit. While it's unclear if Coburn is on the trading block after a sub-par 2013 season, the link between him and the Oilers makes sense. The 28-year old could be an ideal fit the Oilers, who are in desperate need of size on their back end, and his defense-first game could also pair well with some of Edmonton's offensive-minded blueliners.

Braydon Coburn separated his left shoulder on Thursday.
Coburn is out indefinitely due to the injury. He doesn't have much fantasy value in standard leagues, but does rank fourth on the team with 76 hits and third with 61 blocked shots.

Braydon Coburn suffered an undisclosed injury against the New York Islanders on Thursday.
Coburn left the game in the second period and didn't return. His injury is just the latest in a line of ailments on the Flyers' blueline, joining Andrej Meszaros, Nicklas Grossmann and Marc-Andre Bourdon, who hasn't even played this year due to a concussion. We should know about Coburn's injury Friday.

Coach Peter Laviolette is quick to praise the contributions of Braydon Coburn.
"Since I got here, Braydon Coburn has been a rock," Laviolette said. "I think there's a couple of our defensemen that fly under our radar a little bit, just because Chris Pronger was in the lineup and 'Prongs' is an All-Star defenseman. [Coburn is] an important part. He plays against other team's top players. He plays a lot of minutes. He's big. He's strong. He skates. He's really been a force." His play isn't flashy, but he has been an unsung hero for the Flyers during these playoffs and he played a solid game during the regular season as well. Coburn has contributed four assists, 22 hits, 13 blocks and a plus-2 rating during the postseason, while averaging 27:37 of ice time per contest.
