Brayden Schenn, who was loaned to the AHL's Adirondack Phantoms on Tuesday, may rejoin the Philadelphia Flyers on their trip to Boston for Thursday's regular season opener. Schenn's trip to the AHL is purely for salary cap reasons as his cap hit decreases from $3.1 million to $1.75 million as a result of the transaction. He won't be in the lineup versus the Bruins, but the Flyers want him playing in the NHL this year.

Philadelphia's Brayden Schenn did not practice with the Flyers on Tuesday. The center's absence at the Flyers' New Jersey practice facility has many thinking that he will open the season at the team's AHL affiliate in Adirondack. A shoulder injury kept him out of the last two preseason games.

Brayden Schenn participated in Sunday's practice and declared himself fit to play after sustaining a shoulder injury last week. He missed the last two preseason games with the ailment and carries a salary cap hit of $3.1 million, so his roster spot for the start of the season is not guaranteed. "I feel like I'm ready to play and ready to help this team. But at the same time, it's their decision," said Schenn. We are inclined to believe he will be playing in the NHL, but we'll keep you posted.

Brayden Schenn may get the opportunity to play against his older brother Luke when the Philadelphia Flyers visit the Toronto Maple Leafs in exhibition action on Tuesday night. "We've been talking ever since the schedule came out and there was a chance we'd be able to play against each other," said Brayden. "It would be pretty exciting and cool for us." Another pair of brothers may play in the game as well if the Flyers dress defenseman Blake Kessel and the Leafs suit up winger Phil Kessel. If it happens then it should be interesting to see how the siblings stack up against each other.

Brayden Schenn is the frontrunner to center Philadelphia's third line this season. Based on general manager Paul Holmgren's comments earlier this summer, the budding star Schenn is the leading candidate to start the season as the team's third line center. He is well worth a late round flier in all drafts based on his World Junior Championship performance last winter.

Brayden Schenn and 2011 first-round pick Sean Couturier will be among the more notable prospects for Philadelphia at the team's development camp this week. The proceedings begin on Wednesday and last until Monday. Schenn was acquired from Los Angeles as part of the trade that sent captain Mike Richards to Los Angeles. He will have a chance to crack Philadelphia's roster at training camp, but Couturier will likely return for another season of junior hockey next year.

Brayden Schenn is on his way to Philadelphia. He was dealt with Wayne Simmonds for Mike Richards on Thursday. Schenn is an outstanding prospect who will now look to develop in the Flyers' system. Depending on how much more roster movement the team conducts before next season, Schenn could make the club with a strong training camp this fall.
