Brandon Saad won't be tried at center anymore in the near future. The Blackhawks experimented with the 20-year-old centering the second line for the beginning of the preseason, though he slotted in at left wing Sunday because of Bryan Bickell's late scratch. Saad didn't feel very comfortable at center, saying that he's a "born winger." Saad also won only nine of 38 faceoffs during that span. Saad will likely play as the team's third-line left winger now.

Brandon Saad spent a second straight day working as a center. "Faceoffs are going to be something I need to work at for sure," said Saad. "Not getting ahead of the play and coming beneath the puck and supporting the wingers is something new and something I'm going to have to adjust to." For now, shifting Saad to center is just an experiment, but Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville is entertaining the possibility of keeping him there.

As expected, Brandon Saad skated between Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa on the first day of camp Thursday. "We'll see how it plays itself out, but it could happen," coach Joel Quenneville said of the experiment of placing Saad at center. "I thought he looked pretty good in the middle. That line looks like it could be a dangerous line." Chicago is slated to audition Brandon Pirri on the second line at some point during training camp as well.

Coach Joel Quenneville said Wednesday that Brandon Saad will indeed get the first crack at Chicago's second-line center position. "We're going to try it," Quenneville said. "He's good with the puck, he's a big banger, he's a big body and he can see and make plays well." The Hawks bench boss added that there might be a learning curve for Saad when it comes to his defensive responsibilities at center, but he's willing to give the experiment a try. If Saad can't adjust then last year's AHL scoring leader, Brandon Pirri, may be the next player to audition for the role followed by veteran center Michal Handzus.

Despite his surprisingly strong playoff performance, Michal Handzus isn't really the player the Blackhawks want playing second-line center next season. And it can't be Dave Bolland, who was traded to Toronto. Ahead of training camp, it's young Brandon Saad who seems to have the inside edge."Saader is probably the guy we're thinking maybe grab that spot, would be an option," head coach Joel Quenneville said. "It's something we talked about as a staff late in the year. It's something going into the season we could be exploring." Saad, 20, is coming off an outstanding rookie season, but that was playing on the wing. At center, there are additional responsibilities, particularly in the defensive end. "Defensively, I think we can get him up to speed," said Quenneville. "At the end of the day, I mean I don't really care who's going to grab it, but it's a nice spot for somebody."

Team USA is seriously looking at Brandon Saad for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Saad had 10 goals and 27 points in 48 games as a rookie last season. "(Saad's) been on our radar for a while and this was certainly more of a breakout season or him playing high in the lineup for Chicago," USA GM David Poile said. "In some ways, because of (the Blackhawks') success and his role, he could be ahead of some of the younger guys." Saad was invited to America's orientation camp.

Brandon Saad is projected to start Game 2 on the Blackhawks' top line. Saad scored a goal in Chicago's 4-3 triple-overtime win on Wednesday and it looks like he's getting rewarded for his efforts. If the Friday practice lines prove to be accurate, he'll skate alongside Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews.

Brandon Saad netted a goal in Chicago's 4-3 triple-overtime win on Wednesday. Saad had 10 goals and 27 points in 46 regular season games during his rookie campaign. However, he had just four assists in 17 playoff contests, going into Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. "Hopefully I'm saving them for this round," said Saad prior to the contest. His marker aided the Blackhawks in their 4-3 triple-overtime win.

Brandon Saad has thoroughly enjoyed the 2013 campaign and he feels fortunate to be playing for the Stanley Cup. However, he is hoping to add some offense to help his team defeat the Boston Bruins. "Hopefully I'm saving them for this round,"said Saad, who has no goals and four assists in 17 postseason games. "You never know, but just come out flying, playing my game and I'll create chances." He is projected to start the contest on Chicago's third line with Dave Bolland and Andrew Shaw.
