Coleman was recalled from the Devils' AHL Albany affiliate Monday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.

The 2011 third-round pick was assigned to the AHL club on Saturday but will get another crack at the NHL roster. He played in just 14 games last season due to a shoulder injury that required surgery but managed seven points in 14 games for Albany. While it's unlikely the 24-year-old will crack the Devils' roster to begin the season, Coleman could find his way to the NHL at some point this campaign.

The Devils waived Coleman and intend to assign him to Albany of the American Hockey League, Devils' beat writer Tom Gulitti reports. He must clear waivers before being assigned.

EDGE Analysis

Coleman is plenty familiar with AHL Albany after spending the 2014-15 season there. He played in 37 games for Albany, finishing with 20 goals and 17 assists. The 23-year-old should play a similar role there again this season while he looks to continue to develop as a player.
