Tampa Bay coach Guy Boucher isn't ready to name his starting goalie for Saturday's opener against Washington. "Right now, I'm just trying to let those guys get into game shape and give them some time to find their best ways and then we will make a decision come Friday night," Boucher said. "I think we can certainly see how both guys are developing (this week), but I think once we come to Friday we will make a decision not necessarily on what we've seen during the week but maybe more on what the bigger plan is and go from there." We're going to guess that Lindback gets the nod, seeing as the team envisions him as their future starter and he played during the lockout overseas while Mathieu Garon did not.

Anders Lindback's knee is sound heading into the 2013 season. He was injured during workouts that necessitated stitches in his knee but he seems to have fully recovered. Today is sleeper advice day at Rotoworld. The 6' 6" Lindback is poised to have a breakout season after being mentored by Pekka Rinne in Nashville in 2011-12. He had a solid stay in the Finnish league (2.33 GAA and a .930 SP) and is at the right age to blossom. Keep Lindback in mind in the later rounds.

Anders Lindback should benefit from getting playing time overseas when the NHL season begins. The former Nashville backup is eager to elevate his status to being a number one goaltender with Tampa Bay, so he had to play somewhere to give himself a better shot at achieving that goal. In 13 games with Ilves Tampere in Finland's top league, he posted a 3-6-4 record with a 2.33 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. "He turned out pretty solid numbers with a last-place team, so that's interesting," Lightning goaltenders coach Frantz Jean said. "It's the next step for him. He needs the opportunity to be a No. 1. He has the tools to be one." Lindback is excited to get that chance and there is optimism now that a new CBA will be put into place to allow that to happen in a shortened season.

Anders Lindback's deal with Finland's Ilves Tampere has ended. Lindback has been recovering from a knee injury, but he should start skating again "in a couple of days." He plans to wait to see what the fate of the 2012-13 NHL campaign will be before deciding if he wants to sign a new European contract. He'll battle with Mathieu Garon for playing time with the Tampa Bay Lightning if the season's saved.

Anders Lindback sustained a minor knee injury during Tuesday's morning workout in Finland. He was struck in the knee with the puck, which opened a wound that Lindback's agent Mike Deutsch said required "a few stitches." Lindback was surprised at the amount of damage that was done when he removed his equipment after practice. The Lightning netminder, who is playing for Ilves Tampere during the lockout, is projected to miss about 10 days but the good news is that he suffered no structural damage. He has posted a 3-6-4 record in 13 games with his SM-liiga squad to go with a 2.33 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

Anders Lindback stopped all 24 shots he faced as Ilves blanked IFK Helsinki 1-0 on Saturday. Lindback would probably prefer it if he was in an abbreviated training camp preparing for his first season as the potential No. 1 goalie in Tampa Bay, but he'll need to make due in Finland.

Anders Lindback made 38 stops in a 3-2 overtime loss to HPK in his SM-liiga debut. Lindback is expected to see plenty of action in the crease with Tampa Bay once the NHL resumes play, as he's projected to be their number one goaltender in the near future.

Anders Lindback will join Ilves Tampere of SM-liiga. Lindback will attempt to shake off some of the rust so he'll be in a better position if the 2012-13 NHL campaign is salvaged. He'll be competing for the starting job in Tampa Bay once the lockout ends.

Tampa Bay coach Guy Boucher plans to treat goaltenders Anders Lindback and Mathieu Garon as No. 1 and 1a options at the start of the season. "They're both going to get a lot of ice time," Boucher. "I'm not expecting Lindback to come in here and play 65 games. He played 15 games the past two years, so it's not fair to him. It's not fair for the expectations." Lindback actually played 16 games last season and 22 the year before, but we'll forgive the Lightning bench boss for his error. The plan to take some pressure away from the 24-year-old keeper is a good one though. The organization is high on Lindback being their starter in the near future, but for now they appear to be content to allow Garon to help out and see his fair share of games as well.
