Wilson will direct the Jets offense Sunday in Dallas and beyond after the team confirmed that Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles during Monday's overtime win against the Bills, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rodgers lasted just four plays before being lost for the season. Wilson then took over New York's offense and put together an uneven performance, going 14-for-21 with 140 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception plus four carries for six yards and two sacks taken for 13 yards lost. Coach Robert Saleh and company will move forward with Wilson at quarterback, but the team could bring in a veteran option as soon as this week to bolster the depth chart. Currently, Tim Boyle is the only other healthy signal-caller in the organization, and he's situated on the practice squad.

Coach Robert Saleh said Wilson will "be the guy" under center for the Jets for the rest of the season after Aaron Rodgers likely suffered an Achilles injury during Monday's 22-16 overtime win versus the Bills, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson stepped in for Rodgers on the Jets' fifth offensive play after the latter left the game. Wilson had his usual struggles, completing 14 of 21 passes for 140 yards, one touchdown and one interception, rushing four times for six yards and getting sacked twice for a loss of 13 yards. The TD connection with Garrett Wilson with less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter tied the contest at 13-all, and the third-year quarterback didn't need to take a snap in overtime due to Xavier Gipson's 65-yard punt return for the game-winning score. Moving forward, Zach Wilson will have plenty of skill-position talent to work with in Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Dalvin Cook and Allen Lazard, among others.

Wilson completed nine of 13 passes for 70 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for 41 yards in the Jets' 13-6 preseason loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
EDGE Analysis
Aaron Rodgers once again got the night off, so Wilson's busy preseason continued with another respectable showing. Unlike last week's shutout win over the Panthers, Wilson wasn't able to get the Jets into the end zone, but he had an impact play with a 35 yard-run and remained free of turnovers. The third-year signal-caller appears to have settled in nicely after his abrupt demotion this offseason and may get one final chance to tune up for his No. 2 role behind Rodgers when the Jets face off with the Giants in next Saturday night's exhibition finale.

Wilson is slated to start Saturday's preseason game against the Buccaneers, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As was the case in last weekend's contest against the Panthers, Wilson will be followed by Tim Boyle, while top QB Aaron Rodgers won't play. As for the Jets' Aug. 26 exhibition finale against the Giants, coach Robert Saleh noted that he has yet to decide if Rodgers will see action.

Wilson completed 14 of 20 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 27-0 win over Carolina. He added one rushing attempt for two yards.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson delivered a decent performance while playing the entire first half. He spent the first two drives surrounded by the majority of New York's starters, with the notable exceptions of top wide receiver Garrett Wilson (ankle) and running back Breece Hall (knee). Wilson's touchdown pass came in the final seconds of the first half, as he found reserve tight end Kenny Yeboah from two yards out. The 24-year-old quarterback figures to see plenty of action over the Jets' two remaining preseason games before settling in as the backup to offseason addition Aaron Rodgers come the regular season.

Wilson will start Saturday's preseason game in Carolina, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson also started the Jets' preseason opener against the Browns, in which he completed three of five passes for 65 yards. Veteran QB Aaron Rodgers reportedly won't be in consideration to take the field until New York's preseason finale, so Wilson should continue to see action ahead of third-stringer Tim Boyle. Coach Robert Saleh declined to confirm whether the starting offense will see the field versus the Panthers.

Wilson completed three of five passes for 65 yards in the Jets' 21-16 preseason loss to the Browns in Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson was the first quarterback in with Aaron Rodgers getting the night off, and matters didn't get off on the right foot when he took a sack on the Jets' second play from scrimmage. However, the 2021 first-round pick rebounded on his second possession with a 57-yard completion to Malik Taylor from his own seven-yard line to help set up a Greg Zuerlein field goal. Wilson was in for one more drive, which also culminated in three points off the foot of Zuerlein, before giving way to Tim Boyle. With the Jets having an extra preseason game to work with this summer, Wilson could well start in place of an idle Rodgers again in New York's road preseason battle versus the Panthers a week from Saturday.

Wilson is slated to draw the start at QB in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Browns, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Robert Saleh noted that it has yet to be determined how much Wilson will play in the team's exhibition opener. In any case, the 2021 first-rounder is slated to spend the coming season backing up veteran newcomer Aaron Rodgers, with Tim Boyle and Chris Streveler also in the Jets' depth signal-caller mix.

Head coach Robert Saleh said Wilson will play during Thursday's Hall of Fame preseason game versus Cleveland, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Saleh said he doesn't expect the starters to play at all during Thursday's game, so Wilson, who's expected to be the primary backup to Aaron Rodgers in 2023, figures to get an extended look. Tim Boyle and Chris Streveler will presumably get worked into the mix as well.

The Jets plan to keep Wilson around in a backup role after trading for Aaron Rodgers on Monday, ESPN.com's Rich Cimini reports.
EDGE Analysis
The report notes that Wilson and Rodgers have become friends, and the Jets hope they can still salvage something from the No. 2 overall pick down the line in 2024 or 2025. Wilson has completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 6.4 YPA as a pro, showing no real progress last season, as he was benched for poor performance on two occasions. With Rodgers set to start in New York for the next year or two, the 23-year-old Wilson drops down the depth chart and may even face a challenge from Tim Boyle for the No. 2 QB job.
