Patrick (undisclosed) got banged up during Sunday's practice and isn't participating Monday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
EDGE Analysis
With rookie second-round pick KJ Hamler nursing a hamstring injury, Patrick was looking at an easier path to a top-three role Week 1. It isn't yet clear if his own injury might threaten that status, but the Broncos figure to give DaeSean Hamilton most of the No. 3 receiver reps for the time being. Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy appear locked in as the lead duo.

Rookie speedster KJ Hamler (hamstring) is set to miss several weeks, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Hamler's absence provides less competition for Patrick, who has been working with the first team in camp.
EDGE Analysis
Reports out of camp have been that Patrick has consistently played opposite Courtland Sutton on the first-team offense with rookie first-rounder Jerry Jeudy in the slot. Hamler has made some highlights on the second team, but any chance he had at competing for an enlarged role early in the season are likely out the window. Patrick is a huge target, but don't expect huge results even if he locks up the second outside receiver gig. Even as the WR2, Patrick is likely no better than the fourth option in the passing game behind Sutton, Jeudy, and sophomore tight end Noah Fant. His production will likely vary week to week depending on how opponents defend Sutton and Jeudy.

The Broncos' selection of receivers Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler in the first two rounds of the draft spells competition for Patrick in 2020, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Patrick missed the first half of the season with a broken hand, but he was serviceable down the stretch, catching at least three passes for at least 45 yards in three of seven games. The Broncos were bound to go wide receiver early in the draft, but two premium picks likely shakes up the depth chart. Assuming, as head coach Vic Fangio told reporters after Day 2 of the draft, that Diontae Spencer remains the preferred returner, Patrick, DaeSean Hamilton, Fred Brown and Juwann Winfree are all likely competing for two spots. Patrick has the advantage of being a special-teams ace and a clutch, big-bodied security blanket on third-and-short. Even if those skills keep him on the roster, however, the draft has likely pushed Patrick down from WR3 to WR4 or WR5.

Patrick will remain with the Broncos after the team placed a contract tender on the exclusive rights free agent Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old was a solid contributor despite missing eight games with a hand injury, hauling in 16 of 31 targets for 218 yards in 2019. Patrick did emerge late in the season as a nice No. 2 option behind Courtland Sutton, but he'll likely face some competition from inside and outside sources heading into the 2020 season. Depending on how Denver handles it's receiver depth chart, Patrick could be in line for a depth spot and special-teams duties yet again.

Patrick caught 16 of 31 passes for 218 yards during an injury-shortened 2019 season.
EDGE Analysis
Patrick injured his hand early in Week 1's loss in Oakland and didn't return to action until Week 11 in Minnesota. He never came close to the 77 yards he picked up in that game. Patrick was useful on third down, using his big frame to shield defenders and pick up first downs. He did not emerge as a consistent threat opposite Courtland Sutton, however, and will likely be met with some additional competition on the depth chart in 2020 should he return as an exclusive-rights free agent. Assuming Denver adds to the receivers room during the offseason, Patrick figures to be a down-roster receiver and special-teams ace in 2020.

Patrick caught five of six passes for 48 yards during Sunday's 27-17 win over the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Patrick remains scoreless in an injury-shortened season and the yardage numbers haven't been great, but the Utah product remains key to Denver's third-down success. Patrick helped convert back-to-back third downs midway through the fourth quarter, setting up Phillip Lindsay's game-sealing touchdown run. Patrick is trending upward, his five catches Sunday tying the second most he's had in a game during his career. The 2019 season ends with a matchup against Oakland's 25th-ranked pass defense.

Patrick caught three of seven passes for 26 yards during Sunday's 23-3 loss in Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Patrick made his mark midway through the second quarter, shielding his defender away to nab a 12-yard pass on third-and-long to move the chains. Though he hasn't put up big numbers, Patrick has routinely been a go-to target on third down since his return from a hand injury, and Sunday was no different with five of his seven targets coming on third or fourth down. Still, he somehow has four fewer targets than the struggling DaeSean Hamilton in Drew Lock's three starts. Even if that trend continues, look for Patrick to enjoy an uptick in production Sunday against Detroit's 31st-ranked pass defense.

Patrick caught two of three targets for 50 yards during Sunday's 38-24 win over Houston.
EDGE Analysis
On what was an eye-popping road debut for quarterback Drew Lock, Patrick arguably reeled in the rookie's finest pass. Facing third and long to start the second quarter, Lock slid to his left and uncorked a rainbow that landed between two defenders and into the arms of Patrick along the sideline for a 37-yard gain. The Broncos scored a touchdown five plays later. Patrick hasn't put up huge numbers in his four games back from an injured hand, but his clutch receiving on third down probably gives him the WR2 edge over the inconsistent sophomore, DaeSean Hamilton. Though the stock on the Broncos offense is rising slightly with Lock's play, Patrick probably doesn't offer quite as much value as a typical WR2 both because Lock is still getting his feet wet and the emergence of rookie tight end Noah Fant as the Broncos' true secondary receiving option behind Courtland Sutton. Next up Sunday is a trip to Kansas City and the NFL's 12th-ranked pass defense.

Patrick was unable to haul in either of his targets during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Chargers.
EDGE Analysis
Patrick looked like a legitimate WR2 in Week 11, but has just three yards in his last two games. A lot of that can be attributed to a miserable overall offensive performance Week 12 and some very conservative play-calling in the second half versus the Chargers, but it obviously costs Patrick his luster. The Drew Lock Era has begun, and things should only improve as Lock gains comfort in the offense and his receivers, but you should probably wait to see Patrick have a nice game with Lock before considering him. After a tough test against the Chargers, the Broncos get the Texans' 28th-ranked pass defense Sunday.

Patrick (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Chargers, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The wideout's participation in practice was limited Wednesday and Thursday on account of the injury, but he erased any concern about his Week 13 status by taking every rep during Friday's session. Since returning from injured reserve Week 11, Patrick has operated as the clear No. 2 wideout behind Courtland Sutton, playing 69.4 percent of the offensive snaps the past two games and hauling in five of 11 targets for 80 yards. Patrick's fantasy outlook could improve over the final quarter of the season if the Broncos elect to roll with second-round rookie Drew Lock (thumb) as the starting quarterback over incumbent Brandon Allen, who has completed just 46.4 percent of his attempts through three outings.
