Fitzpatrick completed 18 of 27 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions in Sunday's 24-0 win over the Jets.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran QB lit up one of his many former clubs in the first half, throwing all three of his TDs before the break, but neither offense could get much going in the second half -- the two squads combined for eight punts in the final two quarters. Fitzpatrick has a 10:7 TD:INT in six starts heading into the Dolphins' Week 7 bye, and he's likely played well enough to delay having to hand the No. 1 job over to rookie Tua Tagovailoa any time soon.

Fitzpatrick completed 22 of 28 passes for 350 yards and three touchdowns while gaining 16 yards on three carries during Sunday's 43-17 win over the 49ers.

EDGE Analysis

Fitzpatrick came through with one of the most efficient performances of his career as he averaged 12.5 yards per attempt en route to a new season high in passing yardage. He threw touchdown passes to three different receivers and avoided turning the ball over after throwing a pair of interceptions in last week's loss to Seattle. Fitzpatrick has now topped 300 passing yards in three of five games this season and has multiple touchdown passes with no interceptions in three games as well. He continues to surprise for what was supposed to be a futile Dolphins offense and will look to keep it up in a favorable matchup against the Broncos next Sunday.

Fitzpatrick will remain the Dolphins' starting quarterback Sunday at San Francisco, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

On Monday, coach Brian Flores induced rumblings about a QB change when he wouldn't commit to Fitzpatrick as the starter for Week 5. One day later, though, the Dolphins have decided to stick with Fitzpatrick for the time being. While he's completing a career-best 69 percent of his passes, he's averaging 248.5 passing yards per game and has four touchdowns versus five interceptions, leading the team to a 1-3 record. Fitzpatrick seems to be a placeholder at the position until Flores believes 2020 first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa is ready to take the reigns of Miami's offense.

Coach Brian Flores said Monday that he hasn't decided on a starting quarterback for Week 5, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

EDGE Analysis

Flores said he "would assume" Fitzpatrick starts in San Francisco on Sunday, per Beasley, but that the team will have further discussions Monday. While Fitzpatrick played clean in Week 3's win over Jacksonville and has kept games relatively close against tough competition, the Dolphins have emerged with just one win at the quarter point of the regular season. The pressure to see whether rookie first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa can spark the offense appears to be mounting, though Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post notes that Flores wants to avoid rushing the 22-year-old.

Fitzpatrick completed 29 of 45 passes for 315 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Dolphins' 31-23 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday. He also rushed six times for 47 yards and a score and threw a two-point conversion pass.

EDGE Analysis

Fitzpatrick's final line looked good from a fantasy perspective, save for his two interceptions. However, the veteran quarterback's two picks came in the second half, with the second particularly critical because it occurred with 4:27 remaining and Miami trying to overcome a 24-15 deficit. Fitzpatrick also dealt with a temporary absence of lead receiver DeVante Parker (ankle) in the first half, and he continued to demonstrate widespread rapport with his skill-position players by hitting 10 different pass catchers on the afternoon. The Dolphins are 1-3 through the first four games, but Fitzpatrick now has a pair of 300-yard efforts and still appears to be in firm control of the starting job. The veteran will look to eliminate the miscues in a tough Week 5 road matchup against the 49ers.

Fitzpatrick completed 18 of 20 passes for 160 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Dolphins' 31-13 win over the Jaguars on Thursday. He also rushed seven times for 38 yards and another score and logged one reception for no gain.

EDGE Analysis

In the Week 2 loss to the Bills, Fitzpatrick went a long way toward resembling the quarterback who knows coordinator Chan Gailey's offense intimately from having run it with ample success in both Buffalo and New York. Thursday, game script didn't call for Fitzpatrick to be anywhere near as active through the air, but the efficiency he demonstrated was that of a quarterback completely comfortable within a system. The veteran connected on his first 12 passes, a career best, and finished with a 133.3 rating for the night, misfiring only twice while averaging 8.0 yards per attempt and notching completions to seven different pass catchers. With the air attack now seemingly considerably ahead of where it was just two weeks ago in the opener against the Patriots, Fitzpatrick and his teammates will utilize some much-needed extra time to gear up for a formidable Week 4 interconference challenge in the form of the visiting Seahawks on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Fitzpatrick completed 31 of 47 passes for 328 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Dolphins' 31-28 loss to the Bills on Sunday. He also rushed three times for 12 yards and threw a two-point conversion pass.

EDGE Analysis

It wasn't pretty at times, but Fitzpatrick overcome a relatively slow start to keep the Dolphins in the contest until an unsuccessful onside kick with 49 seconds remaining. The veteran particularly hit his stride in the fourth quarter, leading Miami to a pair of scoring marches that went for a combined 19 plays and 119 yards. The latter drive culminated in Fitzpatrick's second and final touchdown of the day, an eight-yard strike to Mike Gesicki that he followed up with a two-point conversion to Preston Williams that brought the Fins within a field goal. Fitzpatrick notably kept his target distribution narrow -- only Gesicki, Isaiah Ford, DeVante Parker and running back Myles Gaskin recorded multiple receptions -- but the 37-year-old did enough to keep his grip on the starting job. Fitzpatrick will try to once again lead his team to its first win of the season in a Week 3 Thursday night road matchup upstate against the Jaguars.

Coach Brian Flores said Monday that Fitzpatrick will start against the Bills in Week 2, Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Fitzpatrick is coming off an ugly three-interception season debut against the Patriots, but he'll get another chance to right the ship Week 2. With rookie first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa waiting in the wings, however, Fitzpatrick could end up with his back against the wall if he's unable to quickly turn things around. Additionally, Fizpatrick may be forced to operate without top receiver DeVante Parker (hamstring) against Buffalo's stingy secondary.

Fitzpatrick completed 20 of 30 passes for 190 yards and three interceptions in Sunday's 21-11 loss to New England. He added 18 rushing yards on five carries and ran in a two-point conversion.

EDGE Analysis

Ryan was more Fitztragic than Fitzmagic in the first half, throwing for just 115 yards and a pair of interceptions to take a 7-3 deficit into the locker room. Things didn't get any better after the break, though Fitzpatrick managed to bring his team within three points early in the fourth quarter. He orchestrated an 11-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, which was capped by a one-yard Jordan Howard run followed by a Fitzpatrick two-point conversion. While the veteran is currently viewed as the likely starter in Week 2 against the Bills, rookie Tua Tagovailoa could get the call sooner rather than later if Fitzpatrick fails to raise his level of play.

Mon 9/7/20 11:13 AM

As expected, Fitzpatrick will begin the season as Miami's starting quarterback, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

This outcome isn't surprising, but it's notable that first-round draft pick Tua Tagovailoa was deemed healthy enough to serve as the team's No. 2 signal-caller, prompting a parting of ways with Josh Rosen. For now, the Dolphins figure to proceed gradually with Tagovailoa, who's bouncing back from a major hip injury he suffered last November, especially with this year's abridged offseason in mind. Meanwhile, fellow QB Jake Rudock is on Miami's practice squad. The 37-year-old Fitzpatrick thus represents an option in deeper fantasy formats, but Miami's pass-catching corps isn't especially deep, so his upside out of the gate hinges on how well he clicks with the likes of wideouts DeVante Parker and Preston Williams, as well as tight end Mike Gesicki.
