ESPN New York considers free agent SS LaRon Landry "highly unlikely" to re-sign with the Jets. A clause in Landry's one-year contract prevents the Jets from franchise tagging him, and he's already made it clear he won't accept a hometown discount. Beat writer Rich Cimini believes the Jets simply "won't be able to afford him." Landry is going to be seeking big money on a long-term deal at age 28.

LaRon Landry told the New York Daily News that he will not take a hometown discount this offseason to re-sign with the Jets. The Jets took a flier on Landry when few wanted him in 2012 free agency. He's 28 years old and won't be repaying Jets management for giving him the shot. "What do you mean (by) a discount?" Landry said. "Take less over what? From where? ... I'm going to sit down with my agent and family and make the best business decision." Landry has 89 tackles, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions this year. Pro Football Focus has also graded him positively in coverage.

Jets SS LaRon Landry (heel) missed practice on Saturday but is expected to play on Monday night against the Texans. Landry is coming off a 2011 Achilles' injury, so this is probably just a rest day for the safety. Jets NT Sione Pouha (back) also missed practice and is not expected to suit up for Week 5. RB/CB Joe McKnight was absent with an illness, but he is also expected to play.

Jets SS LaRon Landry practiced Friday and is probable for Sunday's game against the Bills. Landry missed practice on Thursday, as the Jets have been easing him back into action following his offseason Achilles' surgery. He's capable of elite-level fantasy production, but comes with significant risk having played just 17 games over the past two seasons.

The Jets are easing SS LaRon Landry (Achilles') into training camp by practicing him every third day. He's not out of the woods yet. Landry's activation from the camp/PUP list confirms he won't enter the season on PUP, but he's doing little work in team and individual drills. The Jets continue to count on Landry for a huge 2012 role in a decision that has the potential to backfire for Rex Ryan's defense.

LaRon Landry (Achilles) says he's 100 percent healthy. Landry took part in his first Jets practice Saturday. "I'm just pushing it, each day is going to be an elevated effort, I'm progressing and I'm not going into the negative," Landry said. It's a bit surprising Landry was cleared to practice so early in camp after sitting out the Jets' entire offseason program, but the real test will be how he looks in preseason games.

Jets SS LaRon Landry (Achilles surgery) will begin training camp on the active/PUP list. It's unclear when Landry might be ready to resume practicing, but he's on the record as expecting to be ready for the regular season. Players can be activated from the active/PUP at any time, but Landry would be required to sit out the Jets' first six games if he begins the year on the reserve/PUP. Considering his recent injury, we wouldn't consider him a lock to be ready for Week 1.

Jets SS LaRon Landry (Achilles') will likely be limited in training camp. Although the exact nature of Landry's injury remains unclear, we know it's been bothering him for nearly two years now. He missed seven games in 2010, eight games in 2011 and then skipped all of the Jets' OTAs. Landry is a difference-maker in the box when healthy, but we'll believe he's 100 percent when we see it.

Jets SS LaRon Landry says he's "shocked" by the quickness with which he's been able to recover from his Achilles' injury. "I shocked myself," said Landry, who remains out of pre-training camp workouts. "Unfortunately I'm not there yet, but I'm not taking any steps back. ... I feel great about it." Added coach Rex Ryan, "He's way ahead of where our trainers thought he would be." Landry anticipates being ready for Opening Day.

Jets SS LaRon Landry (Achilles') will not participate in this week's minicamp. He still hasn't practiced as a Jet after a conspicuous absence for all of OTAs. The Jets are "hoping" Landry will be cleared for training camp, but they have to be worried they paid for damaged goods. We'll know more in six weeks.
