Free agent SS LaRon Landry will visit the Colts.
Landry could be a steal for teams looking not looking to pay Dashon Goldson or Ed Reed. The Colts' defense could certainly use an upgrade in toughness after ranking 26th in total defense a year ago. The hard-hitting Landry would provide that.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the 49ers, Cardinals, and Bucs are possible suitors for free agent SS LaRon Landry.
Landry's market is heating up after a slow weekend, but we expect him to be one of the first safeties off the market while averaging somewhere around $5 million annually on a new deal. Landry would be a nice consolation prize to whomever loses out on Dashon Goldson.

The Detroit Free Press is "hearing" LaRon Landry may be a more likely free-agent safety target for the Lions than Dashon Goldson and Glover Quin.
The Lions are bottom ten in the NFL in cap space, though they could free up a lot of money by restructuring Matthew Stafford and Ndamukong Suh's contracts. Landry will likely end up with a deal averaging around $5 million annually. He'd shore up strong safety, with Amari Spievey replacing Louis Delmas at free safety.

NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline passes along "word" from the final few days of the Combine that free agent SS LaRon Landry is unlikely to receive the contract he's currently seeking.
Landry is reportedly seeking roughly $6 million per year, but people inside the league believe he may wind up settling for $3-4 million annually. NFL teams aren't quite flush with cap space this offseason, and Landry has never been an elite cover safety. We still don't envision the Jets being able to afford Landry.

ESPN New York's Rich Cimini says he could easily see the Jets losing free agents SS LaRon Landry, RG Brandon Moore, DE Mike DeVito, Shonn Greene, and Dustin Keller.
The Jets reportedly "made it known" at the Combine that they'd like to keep Landry, but he's expected to seek as much money as he can get after playing in all 16 games. Greene has already been reported as "as good as gone," and Keller hasn't even heard from the team. Gang Green is roughly $8 million under the salary cap.

The Jets have reportedly "made it known" that they'd like to re-sign free agent SS LaRon Landry.
The Jets have had some discussions with Landry's representatives, but we'd expect him to hit the open market. The hard-hitting yet injury-prone former Redskin will want to cash in after actually playing in all 16 games last year. The cap-strapped Jets may not be able to afford Landry, who is believed to be seeking $6 million annually.

According to ESPN New York, free agent SS LaRon Landry is "believed" to be seeking $6 million a year.
For the elite safety Landry envisions himself being, it's actually not ridiculous money. Landry, somewhat surprisingly, made it through a full 16-game season in 2012 and forced six turnovers while recording 100 tackles. Last July, the Raiders signed SS Tyvon Branch to a four-year deal averaging $6.65 million annually. So Landry isn't trying to become the richest safety in the game.

ESPN New York characterizes the Jets' chances of re-signing free agent SS LaRon Landry as "remote."
Per a clause in Landry's contract, he cannot be franchise tagged. Although there's disagreement over how dire the Jets' cap situation truly is, there's almost no chance they'd be able to win a bidding war if Landry reaches the open market. Players who can't be franchise tagged reach free agency almost 100 percent of the time.

Impending free agent SS LaRon Landry was limited to 35-of-58 snaps in the Jets' finale as punishment for missing the team bus.
It's notable because Landry had missed only 25 snaps all season coming into Week 17, and is a rare instance of a Jets player being held to account for his actions. Of course, it's not as meaningful for a player who will likely walk in free agency. Now 28, Landry expects to command lucrative, multi-year deals on the open market.
