Fields (thumb) is listed as inactive Thursday against the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Since the Bears cleared Fields to practice last Friday, he's been listed as a limited participant on four consecutive injury reports. Still, he was doubtful to play the last two games and predictably wasn't able to suit up on either occasion. With a fourth straight absence on tap, Fields again will yield quarterback duties to undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent. Next week, Fields will aim to gain clearance to play for the first time since dislocating his right thumb Week 6 ahead of an NFC North road matchup with the Lions on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Fields (thumb) is listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against Carolina, and it isn't yet clear if he'll go through a pregame warmup prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that Fields made it through a week of limited practices without any setbacks or swelling in his right thumb, but the quarterback still hasn't received medical clearance to play in a game, per Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. Undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent is in line for another start Thursday, with Fields potentially returning Week 11 against the Lions or Week 12 against the Vikings.

Fields (thumb) is listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against Carolina.
EDGE Analysis
After turning in a limited practice last Friday before ultimately sitting out the Bears' Week 9 loss to the Saints, Fields continued practicing this week and remained listed as a limited participant each day. Though he's seemingly continuing to progress in his recovery from a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand, Fields doesn't look like he's quite ready to play and is expected to miss his fourth straight game Week 10. Rookie backup Tyson Bagent should thus be in store for another start Thursday, and he's not the worst fill-in option in deeper leagues, given that he's facing a poor defense and has proven to be both active as a runner and willing to take risks as a passer. The downside of the risk-taking is that Bagent has thrown six interceptions in four appearances, but he may have better luck against an injury-ravaged Carolina defense that won't have standout pass rusher Brian Burns (concussion) or starting cornerback CJ Henderson (concussion) on the field Thursday. As for Fields, he should have a better chance at making his return to the lineup Week 11, when the Bears will have a normal week of practices leading up to a Nov. 19 game in Detroit.

Fields (thumb) remained limited on Tuesday's estimated practice report.
EDGE Analysis
The Bears play the Panthers on Thursday night but have only conducted a pair of walkthroughs to open the practice week Monday and Tuesday. Fields remains day-to-day, and it's unclear if he'll return to face Carolina. If Fields doesn't make the start, it'll again be rookie Tyson Bagent under center.

Head coach Matt Eberflus said that Fields (thumb) was limited during Monday's walk-through practice and is considered day-to-day, Adam Jahns of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fields has missed the last three games due to a dislocated right thumb, but he appears to be closing in on a return to game action. While he hasn't been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Panthers, he won't benefit from a typical week of prep work as he aims to avoid a fourth consecutive missed game. The Bears will continue to evaluate him in the coming days, and if he's unavailable Thursday, it certainly seems possible that he could return Week 11 against the Lions on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Fields (thumb) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Fields will miss a third consecutive game Sunday, but he took his first tangible steps forward this week in his recovery from the dislocated right thumb he sustained Oct. 15. After failing to practice in any fashion since suffering the injury, Fields returned to the field Friday as a limited participant, a development the Bears hope can "jump start" the signal-caller's return to the lineup Week 10, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com, Bears general manager Ryan Poles seemingly backed up Garafolo's report, saying in a radio appearance Sunday that "there's a possibility" Fields is back in action Thursday against the Panthers. While the short week of prep work isn't ideal in advance of the matchup with Carolina, Poles noted that the Bears were pleased how Fields looked while throwing during 7-on-7 drills Friday.

Coach Matt Eberflus told Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com on Friday that Fields (thumb) is "doubtful for" Sunday's game at New Orleans, "which is 51 percent out. But we'll see where it progresses through this weekend and onto the start of next week as well."
EDGE Analysis
Fields has been sidelined since dislocating his right thumb Week 6 against the Vikings, missing two games in the process. In his return to practice Friday in a limited capacity, he threw for the first time since Oct. 15 and wore a glove while doing so. "I don't have to grip the ball as hard with the glove, so it just makes it easier to throw," Fields noted, per Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. Fields added that his grip strength has yet to get back to 100 percent, and Eberflus also relayed that the quarterback's return will depend on "more progression. ... We've got a mock game tomorrow, and we'll go from there. He's healing up nicely, so that's good." As long as Fields in sidelined, the Bears will continue to send out rookie Tyson Bagent under center.

Fields (thumb) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at New Orleans.
EDGE Analysis
On a positive note, Fields was able to practice in a limited capacity Friday. Still, considering his designation for Week 9 action, he's poised to miss a third consecutive contest due to a dislocated right thumb. Once Fields' lack of availability is confirmed approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, Tyson Bagent will serve as the Bears' starting quarterback yet again.

Fields (thumb) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus hinted Monday that Fields may be able to practice in some fashion this week, but the quarterback has remained sidelined for the team's first two sessions of Week 9 while he continues to recover from a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. Eberflus has already announced that Tyson Bagent will start his third consecutive game this Sunday at New Orleans, so expect Fields to be formally ruled out for that contest following the release of Friday's injury report.

Fields (thumb) was projected as a non-participant for Wednesday's walk-through practice.
EDGE Analysis
The Bears haven't officially ruled out Fields for their Week 9 game in New Orleans, but the signal-caller appears headed for a third straight absence with head coach Matt Eberflus having already confirmed that Tyson Bagent will pick up another start at quarterback Sunday. Fields hasn't been able to practice in any fashion since dislocating his right thumb in the Bears' Week 6 loss to the Vikings, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays that Eberflus has optimism that Fields will be able to practice in some capacity this week. At this stage, Fields' primary obstacle in returning to game action is regaining grip strength with his thumb. If he shows meaningful progress in practice this week, Fields could have a shot at starting the Bears' Week 10 game against the Panthers next Thursday.
