Fields completed 16 of 29 passes for 211 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while rushing four times for three yards and another score in the Bears' 27-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also committed two fumbles, recovering one and seeing the other scooped up by center Lucas Patrick.
EDGE Analysis
Fields put together his second straight lackluster performance to open the season, although his two scores Sunday partly made up for the pair of picks and relatively modest passing yardage tally. The mobile signal-caller also was under constant pressure, taking six sacks and four additional hits on the afternoon. Fields and DJ Moore continued to demonstrate solid chemistry, as the offseason acquisition finished with a 6-104-0 line on seven targets. However, about the only other highlight for members of Chicago's air attack was Chase Claypool's 20-yard scoring grab just past the midway point of the fourth quarter. Fields and the Bears will once again try for their first win of the season in a tough Week 3 road matchup against the Chiefs.

Fields completed 24 of 37 passes for 216 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers. He also rushed nine times for 59 yards and lost a fumble.
EDGE Analysis
Fields is still yet to beat the rival Packers, with his fourth-quarter interception that was returned for a touchdown effectively ending Sunday's contest. The signal caller also fumbled while attempting to run earlier in the game, continuing to struggle with ball security after committing 11 turnovers in 15 games last season. Although Fields led the Bears in rushing yards and found Darnell Mooney for a 20-yard touchdown through the air, it otherwise was a disappointing performance that indicated a lack of progress as a passer prior to Fields racking up some yards in garbage time.

Fields completed two of six passes for 51 yards and took three carries for 16 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Bills.
EDGE Analysis
Fields played two drives and the majority of a third, coming out of the game early after center Doug Kramer exited with an undisclosed injury and Fields took a big hit at the end of a screen pass. The quarterback didn't appear hurt, but Bears coach Matt Eberflus took him out of the game in the red zone after Fields led the team there with the help of a 40-yard catch-and-run by WR DJ Moore. The Bears are counting on big things from the Fields-Moore connection as they head into a Week 1 home game against CB Jaire Alexander and the Packers.

Coach Matt Eberflus said on Thursday that Fields and the Bears' starters will play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bills, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The coaches will meet later and determine just how long the starters will play in the final exhibition. Fields played seven snaps in the preseason opener before getting the second one off last week. Fields went a perfect three of three passing for 129 yards and two touchdowns back in Week 1 of the preseason versus the Titans.

Coach Matt Eberflus said Thursday that Fields won't play in Saturday's preseason game at Indianapolis, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite throwing all three of his passes behind the line of scrimmage in the Bears' preseason opener against the Titans, Fields ended up with 129 yards and two touchdowns, a screen pass to DJ Moore that he housed for 62 yards and a checkdown to Khalil Herbert that went for a 56-yard score. After getting some work in two joint practices with the Colts this week, Eberflus is satisfied with where Chicago's No. 1 quarterback stands at the moment. Fields will have one more chance for exhibition action Saturday, Aug. 26 versus the Bills.

Fields completed three of three passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Chicago's preseason game against Tennessee on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Fields didn't need to break a sweat, as DJ Moore took his one target for a 62-yard touchdown on a screen pass, while starting running back Khalil Herbert took a checkdown pass 56 yards for the other touchdown. The arrival of Moore was always an obvious upgrade for Fields and the Bears offense, but Saturday's game provided an on-field example of just how much more help Fields will have in 2023 compared to 2022. Both the pass catchers and the blocking will be better for Chicago in 2023, giving well-founded hope that Fields' passing production will improve in the upcoming year, perhaps significantly so.

Coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that Fields will play during Saturday's preseason opener against the Titans, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eberflus said "selected starters will play here and there" Saturday, so Fields and the first-team offense may not play too many reps. Still, many will be keen to take a look at the dynamic QB in his first real exhibition entering Year 3. Now joined by top wideout DJ Moore alongside returning playmakers Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool (hamstring), Fields is set up well to potentially take another step forward as a passer.

Bears OC Luke Getsy recently said Fields is "light years ahead of where he was" at the same point last offseason, Colleen Kane of The Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fields is entering his third pro season and second year in Getsy's offense after running for 1,143 yards and eight TDs in 15 games last season. It wasn't all good, of course, as Fields took a league-high 55 sacks and fumbled a league-high 16 times for a pathetic Bears team that got the No. 1 pick. They then traded that pick for a package that included WR DJ Moore, and later used a first-rounder on OT Darnell Wright and a fourth-rounder on WR Tyler Scott, giving Fields a lot more help than he had last season. The 24-year-old's progress as a passer is still a major question mark, but the running alone should make him useful for fantasy and suggests massive upside if the Bears are able to throw the ball effectively. With Darnell Mooney (ankle) and Chase Claypool complementing Moore, the team won't lack for speed or athleticism on the perimeter.

Fields, after a Friday trade with the Carolina Panthers, will now have a true No. 1 wide receiver in DJ Moore.
EDGE Analysis
During the 2022 season, Fields' top receiving options were Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet. With three seasons of at least 1,157 receiving yards since 2019, Fields now has a star receiver who may not have reached his ceiling due to the bad offenses he was on with the Panthers. We've already seen Fields rush for 1,143 yards. Now, It's likely the Bears are ready to open up the passing attack to see if their quarterback can be an elite passer as well. Due to his uncertainly as a passer, Fields still carries risk, but it's reasonable to view him as a top-eight fantasy option, with a higher ceiling, in 2023 drafts.

Fields is dealing with a strained hip and has been ruled out for Sunday's season finale against the Vikings.
EDGE Analysis
With Fields sitting out the contest, Nathan Peterman will start at quarterback for the Bears. Fields will thus finish the 2022 campaign having completed 192 of 318 passing attempts (60.4 percent) for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions to go along with 160 carries for 1,143 yards and eight rushing scores in 15 games. Looking ahead to next season, Fields' dual-threat ability will make him a coveted fantasy asset, though he'll need to prove that he's making progress as a passer. The Bears are likely to surround him with several new pass-catching options in 2023 after few of his current weapons emerged as reliable targets this season.
