Fields not only passed for his most yards this season, but he also put together his first turnover-free outing of the campaign. That feat came despite Fields fumbling twice Sunday, as the Bears recovered both times. Although his lone touchdown came on an easy push pass to Velus Jones, Fields additionally led Chicago in rushing yards, marking his best overall performance of a maligned second season to date.

Fields completed 11 of 22 passes for 174 yards while rushing seven times for 52 yards and losing a fumble in Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Giants.

Fields failed to lead a touchdown drive, as the Bears settled for four field goals. He set a season high in passing yards but still struggled mightily throwing the ball and hasn't thrown a touchdown in the past three games. Fields' rushing upside will make him a viable Week 5 fantasy option in Minnesota, but he's likely to continue struggling as a passer.

Fields narrowly avoided disaster by recovering his own fumble on Chicago's first offensive play and ended up setting up an opening-drive field goal with a 29-yard scramble later in the drive. Chicago continued to find success on the ground, even after David Montgomery (knee/ankle) left the game, but Fields' struggles throwing the ball persisted. He was intercepted late in the first quarter and again early in the fourth, but it was a Davis Mills interception that proved to be decisive, as it set up Chicago's game-winning field goal as time expired. Fields has thrown for just 297 yards through three starts heading into a Week 4 road matchup with the Giants.

Fields completed seven of 11 passes for 70 yards and an interception while adding eight rushing attempts for 20 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Packers.

After the Packers mustered a field goal on their opening drive, Fields answered back with a touchdown drive that he capped with his legs from three yards out. The Bears' momentum was short-lived, though, as Chicago's next three drives all went three-and-out, allowing the Packers to take a 24-7 lead into the locker room at halftime. After Chicago cut the Packers' lead to 24-10 in the fourth quarter, Fields was tackled inside the one-yard line on back-to-back rushing attempts to turn it over on downs. Fields' interception on the next drive sealed the win for Green Bay. The second-year quarterback has totaled just 191 passing yards this season heading into a Week 3 matchup with the Texans.

Fields was unable to generate any points in the first half. However, he took advantage of a pair of coverage busts by the 49ers that left Dante Pettis and Equanimeous St. Brown open for touchdown strikes after the break. The game was played on a rain-soaked field, and Fields was able to get the winning points on the board before the rains became torrential in the fourth quarter. He'll hope to have better field conditions to work with when he travels to Green Bay in Week 2.

Fields completed 14-of-16 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns in Chicago's preseason game against Cleveland on Saturday.

Fields was automatic as a passer while playing Chicago's first five drives, and he added two carries for 11 yards. Fields' athletic tools make him a unique big-play threat when the team around him gives him some help, but that second point is the concern as the second-year quarterback heads into Week 1. The 49ers defense looks like a tough matchup for Fields' opening game.

Fishbain also stated that some of the Bears' starters will see 20 plays, so that can't be ruled out for Fields. Coach Matt Eberflus said the low number of plays is due the the short week the team is on.
