Doctson (shoulder) will sit out Thursday's practice but is expected to return to action by Saturday, Rich Tandler of NBC Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Doctson took a scary fall during Wednesday's practice and it was initially believed he suffered a collarbone injury, though reports later suggested it was an AC joint sprain. Head coach Jay Gruden cleared that up when speaking to the media Thursday, stating that "everything checked out fine." It appears Doctson has dodged a bullet here, as his absence is expected to be measured in a matter of days as opposed to weeks.

Doctson (shoulder) is believed to have suffered an AC joint sprain during Wednesday's practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
There may have been some concern about a broken collarbone after Doctson took a hard fall on his shoulder, but it appears he escaped the incident with a less severe injury. He still figures to miss some practice time and could even be in danger of sitting out the preseason opener, depending on the severity of his sprain. The Redskins plan to provide another update Thursday after testing on Doctson's shoulder is finished.

Doctson is being evaluated for a possible shoulder injury.
EDGE Analysis
Per ESPN.com's John Keim, Doctson was favoring his left arm after he hit the ground hard on a catch attempt at Wednesday's practice. He left the session early to get attention from the training staff, and the Redskins expect to have another update Thursday. The 25-year-old wideout is slated to open the season with a spot in three-receiver formations alongside Jamison Crowder and Paul Richardson. A serious injury would open the door for Maurice Harris, Trey Quinn or Robert Davis to get regular snaps.

Doctson recently had an MRI on his leg, but he's expected to be a full participant for the start of training camp, Mike Jones of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Redskins said the MRI was precautionary, and it apparently didn't reveal anything too troubling. Doctson had his rookie campaign derailed by a heel injury, but he bounced back to play all 16 games last season, setting him up for a regular role in three-wide formations this year. He and Paul Richardson will serve as Alex Smith's top downfield targets, while Jamison Crowder, Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis and Chris Thompson figure to soak up looks in the short passing game.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Doctson will have more opportunities to make plays on 50-50 throws this upcoming season, Rich Tandler of NBC Sports Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Redskins reportedly were frustrated with Kirk Cousins at times last season, believing he should've been taking more chances throwing toward Doctson in tight coverage. The 2016 first-round pick didn't exactly make a strong case for himself with only 35 catches on 78 targets (44.9 percent), though he did score six times while producing 14.3 yards per reception. Gruden expects Doctson to take another step forward in Year 3 with Alex Smith now serving as his quarterback. Doctson's 6-foot-2, 206-pound frame and 42-inch vertical jump should make him a nice fit alongside Jamison Crowder (5-foot-9, 177 pounds) and offseason acquisition Paul Richardson (6-foot, 183 pounds) in the three-wide formations that comprise most of Gruden's offense.

Doctson, who hauled in four of his 10 targets for 37 yards in Week 17's loss to the Giants, ended the season with 35 receptions for 502 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games.
EDGE Analysis
Perhaps the best stat for the second-year pro was the fact that he played in every single contest this season after only playing in two games his rookie year due to a torn Achilles. Although he wasn't as involved to start the year, Doctson emerged as a solid No. 2 option on the depth chart for the Redskins after Terrelle Pryor failed to live up to expectations. The 6-2 wideout provided the Redskins with a big target in the red zone, as his six touchdown receptions led the team.

Doctson caught two of 13 targets for 61 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 27-11 victory over the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
Doctson received the most targets in any game of his young career, but the talented Denver cornerbacks held him at bay for much of the afternoon. He was able to break loose for a 48-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, however, which allowed him to finish with a useful fantasy contribution for those brave enough to play him. Doctson has topped 59 receiving yards once this year, but he's reached the end zone six times and has displayed his big-play ability on several occasions. He'll look to finish his second NFL campaign strong next week against a lousy Giants defensive unit.

Docston caught two of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Doctson was almost nonexistent all afternoon Sunday, as his biggest play was a 14-yard loss on the failed end-around late in the third quarter. The second-year wideout will look to bounce back Sunday against a stingy Broncos passing defense.

Doctson brought in three of six targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Chargers.
EDGE Analysis
The second-year wideout drew even with Jamison Crowder in both receptions and receiving yards on an afternoon when Kirk Cousins threw for a season-low 151 yards. Doctson has no more than three receptions in any of the past three games, and he's tallied no more than four in any contest this season. While he undeniably has some big-play potential, it remains largely untapped in an offense that's struggled to gain any measure of consistency lately. Doctson will look to up his production against the Cardinals in a Week 15 battle.

Doctson brought in three of five targets for 26 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 38-14 loss to the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Doctson salvaged his night from a fantasy perspective with an acrobatic, leaping 14-yard touchdown grab early in the fourth quarter. It marked the second straight game with a touchdown for the second-year wideout, although he's notably notched under 30 receiving yards in both contests. Doctson remains somewhat hard to trust on a week-to-week basis, but he retains considerable upside in the red zone due his size and body control. He'll look to hit pay dirt for the third consecutive contest against the Chargers in Week 14.
