Jon Bostic and D.J. Williams are splitting time at middle linebacker during OTAs. Per CSN Chicago, Bostic is making a "strong impression" even in these non-contact sessions. It sounds like the Bears are rethinking whispers that had Bostic moving to the strong-side, especially with Shea McClellin showing well there. Getting more speed and explosiveness on the field is a must for Chicago, who was historically inept against the run last season.

ESPN Chicago expects the Bears to move Jon Bostic to outside linebacker. There's been conflicting reports on whether the Bears will keep Bostic at middle linebacker this season. He struggled against the run as a rookie, but has the skill-set to be the best option there in the long-term. If Bostic is moved to the outside, D.J. Williams will regain his starting job at the "Mike" spot.

Bears GM Phil Emery said Friday the future of second-round LB Jon Bostic may be at outside linebacker instead of in the middle. Bostic has had a difficult time shedding blocks since taking over as Chicago's starting middle linebacker, and is one of the primary reasons the Bears have been so porous versus the run. It's conceivable Bostic will end up on the strong or weak side long term, taking away from his Dynasty IDP prospects.

ESPN Chicago believes "it's going to be difficult" for the Bears to demote rookie MLB Jon Bostic when D.J. Williams (calf) returns. Williams has been sidelined since camp began with a "severe" calf injury. Bostic has made his fair share of mistakes through two preseason games, but also jumped off the screen on multiple occasions. The rookie brings obvious energy to Chicago's defense. Bostic could be a stud rookie IDP if he keeps the job.

ESPN Chicago believes rookie MLB Jon Bostic could "wind up making a serious push" to unseat D.J. Williams in the starting lineup. Injured Williams is out indefinitely, so Bostic is soaking up first-team practice reps and will start Chicago's preseason opener. The 50th overall pick in April's draft, Bostic is considered the Bears' future at the position. If he plays well with Williams on the shelf, that future could begin in Week 1.

Bears second-round pick Jon Bostic is practicing "almost exclusively" at middle linebacker with the second-team defense in camp. Bears DC Mel Tucker declared Bostic vs. D.J. Williams an "open competition" in May, but Williams clearly has the early edge. Bostic will probably take the reigns sooner rather than later. For now, he's a wait-and-see IDP prospect.

Bears DC Mel Tucker says second-round pick Jon Bostic is in an "open competition" to start at middle linebacker. Bostic is capable of playing all three linebacker spots, but he shouldn't have any trouble beating out D.J. Williams at his natural position. The Bears will likely go with a committee of Williams and James Anderson on the strong side. Fourth-round pick Khaseem Greene projects as Lance Briggs' heir apparent at weak-side linebacker.

Bears agreed to terms with No. 50 overall pick LB Jon Bostic on a four-year contract. Bostic, a physical thumping linebacker, is expected to compete with veteran D.J. Williams for the starting middle linebacker job as a rookie. If Bostic beats him out, then Williams could move to SAM linebacker. First-round pick OG Kyle Long is the only Bears' draft pick yet to sign.

The Bears are counting on No. 50 overall pick Jon Bostic to compete for a starting job right away. Although GM Phil Emery is calling him a "three-position linebacker," Bostic's home is the middle, where he'll compete with D.J. Williams. "He's a guy that can line up others," Emery said of Bostic. "We felt very good about his football aptitude and ability to line everybody else up on the field." If Bostic wins out, Williams could move to the strong side, upgrading on James Anderson.
