Beat writer Gerry Dulac says the Steelers want Jerricho Cotchery to be their No. 5 receiver. Cotchery will have some serious ground to make up if he wants to have an impact. His primary focus will in the slot, but he's really just insurance against Emmanuel Sanders' foot and Hines Ward's age. Cotchery is nowhere near the starting role he thought he would get when he bailed on the Jets.

The Ravens have reportedly opted to pass on signing Jerricho Cotchery. It's the right move. Cotchery has an obvious experience edge on Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss, but the latter two possess more speed and the Ravens don't need to get any slower or older at the receiver position. Cotchery's options appear to be dwindling after visits to Baltimore and Pittsburgh didn't pan out.

Free agent Jerricho Cotchery left his visit in Baltimore Tuesday without a contract. Cotchery also paid a visit to the Steelers earlier this week and didn't sign on the dotted line. There's a good chance that the ex-Jet can't pass a physical right now due to offseason back surgery.

The Steelers believe free agent WR Jerricho Cotchery is looking for a "situation better than what they can offer," according to beat writer Gerry Dulac. Dulac notes that the Steelers were offering the No. 5 wideout gig, behind Mike Wallace, Hines Ward, Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown. In Baltimore, Cotchery would have a legit shot at the No. 2 job. This confirms that the Steelers wisely didn't want to stunt the growth of their young prospects in Sanders and Brown. Both will have impacts this season.

Free agent Jerricho Cotchery is en route to Baltimore for a visit with the Ravens. Cotchery left his Steelers visit Monday morning without a contract, probably because Pittsburgh could offer only veteran minimum money and no guarantee of a starting job. Cotchery would have a better shot at a first-team position in Baltimore, opposite Anquan Boldin. His addition would take some life out of rookie Torrey Smith's sleeper appeal in fantasy leagues.

Jerricho Cotchery left his visit with the Steelers without a contract. Cotchery spent Sunday and Monday morning in Pittsburgh, but a deal was not struck. It's possible he'll take a couple more visits before making his decision. The Ravens and Titans are also rumored to have some interest.

A team source suggested to the Baltimore Sun that the Ravens will not aggressively pursue free agent Jerricho Cotchery. "We'll see," the source said. The Ravens are high on rookies Tandon Doss and Torrey Smith. "We did draft them because we thought they were guys that would get up to speed quickly," coach John Harbaugh said. "They're smart guys. They catch the ball well. They're good football players." Cotchery is visiting Pittsburgh Sunday and Monday.

The Carroll County Times' Aaron Wilson reports free agent WR Jerricho Cotchery will visit the Steelers on Sunday. However, Cotchery remains in the talks with the Ravens, who could make a big push for his services after losing Derrick Mason to the Jets on Saturday. Cotchery could slide right into Mason's old role in Baltimore, which would likely be a better landing spot than Pittsburgh from a fantasy perspective.

Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun is "hearing" that the Ravens should end up signing either free agent Jerricho Cotchery or Derrick Mason. Mason would be preferable in the Ravens' eyes, but Cotchery is on their radar as a fallback option. Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times, another Ravens writer, wrote on Twitter Friday that he believes the team has a "very good shot" at retaining Mason. That might mean Cotchery goes to Tennessee.
