Howard Eskin of 610 WIP Philadelphia is "hearing" that Jeremy Maclin (illness) will be able to practice "right away" when the Eagles resume training camp at their NovaCare facility on Saturday. We suspected as much considering Maclin's been medically cleared, but still worry whether he'll have his strength and legs back, or be able to make it through anything close to a full practice. The Eagles are in the process of releasing a statement on Maclin. The good news is that he avoided cancer. The bad news is that his early-season effectiveness is in jeopardy.

Jeremy Maclin revealed to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer Wednesday that he's been medically cleared after "months" worth of tests for lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the immune system.

The "word in the locker room" is that Jeremy Maclin is suffering from mononucleosis and/or the lingering effects of it, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Internet rumors have run rampant as to what exactly is wrong with Maclin. He was suffering from "mono-like" symptoms right after the season, but that was around seven months ago. We're tentatively expecting an announcement at some point this week and GM Howie Roseman went on the record yesterday saying he anticipates Maclin back with the team shortly.

The Eagles didn't given an update on Jeremy Maclin's (illness) status Tuesday, but GM Howie Roseman fully expects the receiver back in town when the teams returns to NovaCare this weekend. "We totally anticipate Jeremy being part of our football team," Roseman said. "We anticipate him being back here shortly." Coach Andy Reid hinted that an announcement could still be forthcoming. "Today, right? Well possibly today," said Reid. "We have a few hours. ... We're still waiting for some tests to come in."

The brother of Jeremy Maclin (undisclosed) told the Sporting News Monday that Jeremy is "fine," and that the Eagles will make an announcement about Maclin on Tuesday. Maclin has mysteriously been unable to practice in camp, and the Eagles haven't said anything. "When I say definitely, we definitely will have some news tomorrow," said Andre Maclin. "That's when we find out exactly what's going on and when they will address it and talk. They kind of have us on a gag order until tomorrow. ... But he's fine, he's fine. That much I can say." Andre says he's "confident" Jeremy will play for the Eagles this season.

DeSean Jackson said Sunday the Eagles did indeed pick up Steve Smith as insurance for Jeremy Maclin (illness). "The reason why they picked him up is they're unsure of Maclin's health," Jackson said. This goes directly against comments from coach Andy Reid, who has been incapable of telling the truth on personnel matters for a few years now. Jackson is still hoping Maclin can make a quick return from the mysterious illness that has sidelined him throughout camp.

Eagles HC Andy Reid said on Saturday he "doesn't know" when Jeremy Maclin (undisclosed illness) will return to training camp. This, after Reid said Thursday the Eagles remain optimistic that Maclin will be ready for Week 1. The details remain vague, but the circumstantial evidence strongly suggests Maclin is going to be anything but ready for the regular season.

Coach Andy Reid reiterated Thursday that the Eagles are "optimistic" Jeremy Maclin (undisclosed illness) will be ready for the start of the season. The optimism is a little hard to buy when Reid admits the Eagles don't know what's ailing Maclin. While there remains no timetable for a return, Reid emphatically stated that Steve Smith's addition had nothing to do Maclin's condition. The Eagles are downplaying Maclin's return to St. Louis for testing, suggesting he simply feels more comfortable with his hometown doctors.

Team sources tell Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News that "dire rumors floating around the internet" about Jeremy Maclin contacting a life-threatening illness are not true. A google search will reveal the baseless rumors, though we've seen nothing even remotely reliable. Bowen points out that Maclin has returned home to St. Louis for further testing likely because he was "more or less raised by the family of a youth football coach, Dr. Jeff Parres," who has connections in the medical community. We're still steering clear of Maclin in early fantasy drafts until more is known about his condition.

Jeremy Maclin (undisclosed) has returned to his hometown of St. Louis for further testing. It's time to get concerned. Maclin hasn't practiced yet, appears noticeably thin and is now leaving the team. He's going back to St. Louis to try to identify the mysterious illness that has apparently bothered him since last spring. At this point, Maclin is no lock to be ready for Week 1. Owners drafting early need to tread lightly until more details are revealed.
