Waddle recorded one catch on one target for eight yards in Saturday's 14-6 preseason win over the Jaguars.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle played along with most of Miami's healthy starting offensive unit and was on the field for three possessions. He hade his lone catch on the final drive on a pass delivered by Tua Tagovailoa, and Waddle will now turn his focus toward a Week 1 matchup against the Colts.

Waddle is in uniform ahead of Saturday's preseason game versus the Jaguars, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle has yet to play during exhibition season, first due to an undisclosed injury in the first contest and then because most of the Dolphins' key players were held out last Saturday. This will mark Waddle's first game action with QB Tua Tagovailoa since last season, when the wide receiver failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his four-year career.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Friday he doesn't plan to play the starters, including Waddle, during Saturday's preseason game against the Lions, Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle sat out Miami's preseason opener due to a collision that occurred during joint practices with the Bears, but he returned to practice this week and has participated in team drills against Detroit. He'll need to wait until the Dolphins' preseason finale against the Jaguars on Sat., Aug. 23, however, for a chance to see exhibition reps. Meanwhile, Tyreek Hill (oblique) has not yet returned to practice.

Waddle is taking part in team drills at Thursday's joint practice with the Lions, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle returned to practice Wednesday, also a joint session with the Detroit, though coach Mike McDaniel said his rep count was limited, per David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. While Waddle's overall workload may still be being managed Thursday, he essentially appears back to full health after having been banged-up during a collision with a Bears defender in last week's joint practices. If McDaniel opts to play the starters during Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Lions, it doesn't appear injuries would prevent Waddle from suiting up.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday that Waddle (undisclosed) will retake the field for joint practices against the Lions, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle continues to recover from a collision suffered during joint practices with the Bears last week, which forced him to miss Miami's preseason opener, so it's encouraging to see him back on the field for joint sessions against Detroit. McDaniel confirmed that Waddle and Tyreek Hill (oblique) both remain "day-to-day," however, so it seems like the pair of starting wideouts will be limited in some capacity while returning to practice. Saturday's road game against Detroit represents Waddle's next opportunity to get on the field for exhibition reps.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Tuesday that Waddle (undisclosed) and fellow starting wideout Tyreek Hill (oblique) are both day-to-day, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
McDaniel said a decision hasn't yet been made on the status of the duo for joint practices against the Lions this week, but that "they're definitely in the conversation" to get reps, per David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. As a result of seemingly minor injuries, both Waddle and Hill sat out Sunday's preseason debut against the Bears, but it sounds like each has a fair chance to get healthy in time for exhibition action Saturday versus Detroit.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said after Sunday's 24-24 preseason tie against the Bears that Waddle (undisclosed) was held out because McDaniel didn't want starters playing through any minor injuries, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
McDaniel's statement implies that Waddle is currently working through a minor health concern. Waddle's participation in practice will bear monitoring ahead of the team's next preseason game against the Lions on Saturday, though the starting wide receiver is unlikely to face a lengthy absence.

Based on pregame warmups, Waddle is not in line to play against the Bears in Sunday's preseason opener, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle and Tyreek Hill (oblique) are in street clothes during warmups. It appears Tua Tagovailoa will be without his top two pass catchers, which means Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Malik Washington, Dee Eskridge and Tahj Washington should see more snaps on offense. Waddle's next chance to play will be Saturday against the Lions.

Waddle was Miami's most impressive player at OTAs on Wednesday, Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle is coming off his worst season as a pro, having failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his NFL career with just a 58-744-2 receiving line (83 targets) across 15 regular-season games in 2024. As he works to bounce back entering his age-27 campaign, it's encouraging to see Waddle impressing early at practice with Tyreek Hill (wrist) sitting out most receiving drills. David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Waddle put his speed on display Wednesday and torched Miami's defensive backs multiple times, though it's worth noting that Jalen Ramsey has not been present for voluntary practices. Waddle has fallen down fantasy draft boards significantly following his disappointing 2024 showing, but he could be in solid position to rebound if the Dolphins' offensive line can do a better job of keeping Tua Tagovailoa upright, and if coach Mike McDaniel's offense is able to return to its norm of manufacturing explosive plays in the intermediate and deep areas of the field rather than peppering De'Von Achane and Jonnu Smith with short targets.

Waddle (knee) brought in four of nine targets for 44 yards while taking his lone carry for six yards in Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Waddle successfully returned from a knee injury Sunday that cost him two weeks of game action. The star wideout had mixed results, catching just 44 percent of his targets for 44 yards. The lack of efficiency can be explained by possibly playing at less than 100 percent, in addition to the poor quarterback play of backup Tyler Huntley with Tua Tagovailoa (hip) sitting this one out. Waddle posted the worst receiving line of his professional career in 2024, finishing with 58 receptions for 744 yards and two touchdowns across 15 games played. With news of Tyreek Hill wanting out of Miami following Sunday's ugly defeat, Waddle could be in store for a huge jump in usage in 2025 if that scenario plays out.
