Malcom Floyd caught four passes for 66 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers Week 1 win over the Raiders. Philip Rivers found Floyd in the back of the endzone from six yards out for the Bolts lone touchdown of the night. He also caught a pretty 23-yard pass down the right sideline while working on Raiders cornerback Ronald Bartell. Floyd is obviously Rivers' No. 2 option in the passing game right now while Meachem and Rivers still work to find their chemistry. He's not much more than a WR3/4, though.

Well I might regret it later but just traded Floyd for B.Tate (RB/Hou) - I had to handcuff for Foster - Still think Floyd is going to have a great year though and when you got Hicks/Andre and Marshall I still feel pretty good - p/up D. Moore to repload the Floyd move - Thoughts on Danaruis?

James Jones or Malcom Floyd? Other WRs I'm starting at Roddy White and Victor Cruz.

ClosetLesbian Thu 9/13/12 3:28 PM

Help me out guys: Start Jordy Nelson vs Bears DB's or Macolm Floyd vs Titans DBs. Everywhere else say Nelson but im just not convinced yet.

Yoshi Thu 9/13/12 3:50 PM

Malcom. My reasoning, 2nd most targeted last week, and furthermore Gates has a rib injury which could slow him down. Also, no chemistry between Meachem and Rivers thus far nor do I see any improvement in the future. There is a reason the saints let him go. Also Titans have sub par CB's, especially since they lost Finnegan.

Bears may not have the best CB's but they know how to cover and get to the QB quickly. And now with Jordy being #1 with Jennings out, I see double coverage happening.

Let me add that the Chargers still do not have Ryan Matthews on the field, so only option is to throw 50 times.

Yoshi Thu 9/13/12 4:12 PM

I hate having to look and check myself. I might legitimately bench Mike Wallace to start James Jones, and Malcom Floyd.

Yoshi Thu 9/13/12 4:12 PM

double check*

AlwaysBusy Thu 9/13/12 7:50 PM

I'm taking that gamble. I'm benching Wallace to start Malcom Floyd. Wish me Luck

Yoshi Thu 9/13/12 9:40 PM

Good Luck to you. I didn't start James Jones thank god and am liking it so far.

BenTovar Fri 9/14/12 8:40 AM

I am making the same play. Good luck to you (and me)

dcraddock99 Fri 9/14/12 1:39 PM

misery loves company..thinking about pulling Wallace v Jets DBs and Plugging in Floyd....hope we are all correct...good luck

Yoshi Fri 9/14/12 1:57 PM

YO YO ALL D. Revis is not making the trip to PITT. just got word. I might just start Wallace and Brown now (would be dumb but sounds good). I am going Wallace and Floyd with a smile on my face.

Yoshi Fri 9/14/12 1:59 PM

Aww crap i forgot I traded Brown will be gone by tomorrow. Sticking with Wallace and Floyd. Good luck to you all.

AlwaysBusy Tue 9/18/12 9:08 AM

Floyd

JackSkita Thu 9/13/12 8:17 PM

Decker , Manning will have to throw all day to keep up w / the dirty birds .

G-R-I-M Tue 9/11/12 11:15 PM

Floyd was one of the best bargains in the draft this year - not a lot of competition on a pass 1st offense and has shown in years past his chemistry w/Rivers is already there - Meachum is nothing more than waiver wire fodder - maybe 2-4 games a season he'll be worth a WR3/4 but no consistency - too many drops ! Brees was nice about it - Rivers will bite his ear off.

shawntkstr5 Tue 9/11/12 4:15 PM

Not sure why an underachiever like Meachem would be considered Rivers top wr target as opposed to Floyd. Also this column dismisses Floyd as a wr 3/4 when hes at least a wr 2/3 with Rivers as his qb.

Hallfame3-4 Tue 9/11/12 12:27 PM

Calling Floyd a WR3/4 is one of the worst pieces of fantasy analysis I've ever heard. Yeah, maybe in an 8-team league. If the Raiders best WRs were healthy, this would've been a shoot out and Floyd would've made even more plays. But with the Raiders also botch-snapping and penalizing that game away, the Chargers didn't need to throw towards the end, closing out a still solid night for Malcom. Watch, Floyd will finish as a top ten WR with a top ten QB winging it to him and other weapons keeping defenses from constantly putting all the attention on him.

Oh, and when Palmer's WRs get healthy and stop dropping balls, expect him to finish as one of the best bargains of this year. Anyone see the 297 yds he tossed for despite a terrible night for the Raiders? Owners who stockpiled talent at other positions and waited for Palmer or another supposed "lower" tier QB will be rewarded, IF you picked the right QB.

Hallfame3-4 Tue 9/11/12 12:30 PM

To be specific on Floyd, he will put up a healthy Vincent Jackson-in-SD type year, but maybe better.

Greg_W Tue 9/11/12 7:12 AM

Really, Flloyd as a WR3/4 option.

I see him as a WR2 and I think he will have a solid season, taking advantage of coverage on Meachem and Gates
