Bucs CB Eric Wright met with coach Greg Schiano and GM Mark Dominik Tuesday, and "appears likely" to agree to a restructured contract. Wright was considered as good as gone for most of the offseason, but the tide has begun to turn in recent days. It's apparent neither side likes what it sees on the open market. Even if Wright was forced to play for less than half of his currently scheduled $7.75 million salary, that's more than he'd get in free agency. An official resolution could come before the end of the week.

The Tampa Tribune thinks it's time to "start getting used to the idea" of CB Eric Wright being back with the Bucs in 2013. "He has been a reliable player," coach Greg Schiano said. "If I didn't feel there was good there, we would have already separated from him, but there is good there." The Bucs are ultra-thin at the cornerback position, and they apparently still like Wright's tools and feel he has upside. His $7.75 million salary isn't guaranteed, so he can easily be released at any point,

Citing a league source, ProFootballTalk is reporting that the Buccaneers are shopping CB Eric Wright. Wright signed a four-year deal with the Bucs last year that pays him a $7.75 million base salary for 2013, which is no longer is guaranteed due to his four-game suspension in 2012. With the soft cornerback market, Wright will have to agree to a dramatically reduced deal in order to facilitate a trade. As he's likely to refuse, the Bucs will have a tough time trading Wright and may ultimately have to cut him.

Bucs CB Eric Wright lost his grievance with the team, and his 2013 salary of $7.75 million will remain non-guaranteed. When Wright signed his deal with the Bucs last offseason, his 2012 and 2013 salaries were guaranteed. Once he was suspended for violating the league's policy on PEDs, the guarantees in 2013 were wiped out. He challenged, and lost. Wright will almost certainly be released in the very near future.

Bucs CB Eric Wright is appealing the voiding of his guaranteed $7.75 million 2013 base salary. When Wright signed with the Bucs last offseason, his 2012 and 2013 base salaries were guaranteed, but due to a PEDs suspension last year, that wiped out the guaranteed money on his deal. He's fighting it, but it's not likely he'll have much of a case. The Bucs are expected to release him before April's OTAs.

The Bucs have decided to "hold off" on releasing CB Eric Wright. Wright's 2012 PED suspension wiped out all the remaining guarantees in his contract, so the Bucs can release him whenever they want without penalty. Beat writer Stephen F. Holder believes the Bucs could hold Wright indefinitely before squeezing him to reduce his $7.75M salary. So far, Wright has balked at a pay cut.

The Bucs haven't made a decision on what to do with CB Eric Wright. Tampa Bay is trying to decide if they should just cut ties with Wright and wash their hands clean of him, cut him and sign him to a new deal, or keep him around and hope for the best. Wright is due a $7.75 million salary in 2013, but all of his guarantees were wiped out after a PED suspension last season. The Tampa Bay Times has previously said the Bucs are expected to release Wright.

The Tampa Bay Times says the Bucs are expected to release CB Eric Wright. Wright signed a five-year, $38 million contract last offseason, but with his four-game PEDs suspension during the year, all of the remaining guaranteed money in his contract was voided. Wright is due $7.75 million in 2013, but he won't see that after being a contributor to one of the worst secondaries in the NFL in 2012. The Bucs will certainly be on the lookout for corners in free agency and the draft.

The Tampa Bay Times believes CB Eric Wright has played his last snap with the Buccaneers. If so, he'll end up as a one-year, $7.25 million rental. 27-year-old Wright missed four games due to an in-season PEDs suspension, which voided the remaining guarantees in his contract. He was inconsistent in coverage when eligible to play, and skipped the Buccaneers' conditioning workouts during the offseason.

Bucs declared CB Eric Wright, RB Michael Smith, LB Jacob Cutrera, OG Roger Allen, WR Chris Owusu, DT Corvey Irvin, and DT Matthew Masifilo inactive for Week 17 at Atlanta. Wright won't play despite being activated from the reserve/suspended list on Saturday. Rookie seventh-round speedster Smith is a healthy scratch for the 16th consecutive game.
