Contract talks between the Chargers and free agent S Eric Weddle are expected to "intensify quickly" Wednesday. The Bolts have already "gotten down to business" with Weddle's agent, and he's clearly the front office's top priority. Weddle's contract is expected to be for at least $30 million over four years.

According to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, free agent S Eric Weddle will make a decision on a team by the end of the day. Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill says Weddle has already received "a few strong offers." Weddle grew up a Cowboys fan, but it's not clear if Dallas is willing or able to go overboard to land him. Several reports suggest the Cowboys will end up with Abram Elam instead.

The Vikings are reportedly backing off their interest in free agent S Eric Weddle. The bidding for Weddle may be getting too rich for Minnesota's blood. The Chargers, Jaguars, Cowboys, Colts and Texans have all been mentioned as suitors for the top safety on the market.

The Times Union's Tania Ganguli was previously skeptical of a Jaguars-Weddle marriage, but confirms they're "one of six teams" to make overtures. Solid all-around safety Eric Weddle has been the name most connected with Jacksonville, and they figure to add a veteran linebacker as well. Director of player personnel Terry McDonough suggested in April that an "explosive wide receiver" could also be on the wish list.
