Weddle is expected to be a full participant once Tuesday's mandatory three-day minicamp begins, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Weddle has been absent from the Chargers' offseason activities thus far as he seeks a contract extension, but since he's already under a deal with San Diego, the safety would be fined for not showing up to this week's minicamp. With that situation looming, the veteran will instead rejoin his teammates on Tuesday and is expected to be a full participant in practices. At 30 years old, Weddle is among the premier safeties league-wide and has registered 129 tackles over the past two seasons.

Weddle continues to skip OTAs due to frustration with contract talks, Eric D. Williams of ESPN reports.
Weddle enters 2015 set to make the third-highest salary ($7.5 million) among safeties, but is in the last year of a five-year, $40 million dollar contract. It appears both sides are interested in extending his stay in San Diego, but the numbers remain far apart. As a result, Weddle continues to skip the team's OTA's and time that could be spent gelling with the other expected starter at safety, Jahleel Addae. However, the veteran should remain a solid IDP option after collecting 114 tackles (91 solo), one interception and two forced fumbles in 2014.

Weddle won't attend the Chargers' first OTA on Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Although his presence is voluntary in such offseason drills, Weddle is seeking a extension on his current contract, which runs through the 2015 season. During his eight professional campaigns, he's earned two first-team All-Pro selections, three second-team All-Pro picks, and three Pro Bowl bids, all of them in the past five years. In addition, he's proved healthy, missing only four games in his career, while tallying 19 interceptions and averaging 96.5 tackles per season.

Weddle, whose contract is set to expire after the 2015 season, is not present for voluntary offseason workouts, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Weddle indicated that the Chargers have thus far been unwilling to discuss a contract extension, which is unusual when dealing with a player of this caliber. Weddle has been one of the league's top safeties since he first became a starter in 2008, and he's never played for any team besides the Chargers. Despite his current displeasure, the All-Pro safety still wants to work something out, and he figures to be on the field when Week 1 rolls around.

Weddle finished 2014 with 114 tackles, two forced fumbles and one interception and was named an All-Pro by the Associated Press.
The eight-year veteran remains the leader of San Diego's secondary and has been an iron man for the team, having only missed a total of four games in his career and none since 2009.

Weddle had nine tackle (seven solo) and forced a fumble in Thursday night's loss at Denver.
Weddle also had an interception which was nullified by a suspect defensive holding call. He continues to be one of the leaders of the defense in San Diego and does not look like he is slowing down any time soon.

Chargers FS Eric Weddle said he would be willing to restructure his deal in order to create cap space.
Weddle is due $6 million in 2013, so he could reduce his cap number by converting his base salary into a signing bonus. Phillip Rivers has also told the Chargers that he would be open to restructuring his contract. San Diego is currently around $8 million under the salary cap.

Chargers DBs coach Steve Wilks explained that Eric Weddle's role has changed this year, morphing into more of a ball-hawking free safety than enforcer in the box.
Weddle's tackles are down a bit because he's playing in center field more, but he ranks second in the NFL with a career-high six interceptions. "Coming in to training camp," Wilks said, "I asked him, 'Eric, what are you, who are you? You're not a crushing hitter. But you're a ball hawk. You've got to make plays on the ball this year.' And I think he's done that thus far."
