Smith was unable to haul in his lone target during Sunday's 12-10 loss to the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
After going for 74 yards and a score in Week 2, Smith has slid down over the past two weeks, culminating in Sunday's disappointing performance. Smith is obviously not an integral part of Dallas' offense, but it's worth mentioning that -- despite just five catches in three games -- he's averaging a whopping 22.6 yards per reception. He certainly provides a big-play threat in the Dallas offense, but that will be hard to tap into in Week 5 against a Green Bay team adept at keeping opposing passing games in front of them with just 10.9 yards per opponent reception, 12th best in the league.

Smith caught two of five targets for 39 yards in Sunday's win over the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
Getting the start in place of Michael Gallup (knee), Smith finished second on the Cowboys in targets and came within inches of a much more impressive performance, as Dak Prescott just overthrew him in the corner of the end zone on the team's opening drive. Gallup's timetable for a recovery isn't yet clear, but Smith should see an expanded role at least through Week 4's contest against the Saints.

Smith could see his snap count increase in the Cowboys' upcoming game Sunday against the Dolphins with starting receiver Michael Gallup (knee) expected to be sidelined for at least 2-to-4 weeks, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith already benefited from Gallup's early departure due to the meniscus injury in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Redskins, playing 18 of the Cowboys' 70 offensive snaps and finishing with three receptions for 74 yards and a score on three targets. As he showed on his 51-yard touchdown jaunt, Smith offers his most utility as a deep-ball threat, so he won't necessarily absorb all of Gallup's work in the intermediate area. That said, the presence of one fewer receiver should prove beneficial to Smith and other tertiary options in the passing game like Tavon Austin (concussion) and running back Tony Pollard.

Smith caught all three of his targets for 74 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-21 win over Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Smith helped his team climb out of an early hole when he hauled in a 51-yard touchdown pass to complete a 97-yard scoring drive in the first quarter. Despite not catching a pass last week, the long score helped Smith lead a talented receiving corps in yardage for the day. While his deep-threat role should lead to volatile production patterns this season, his ability to get behind defenses could add yet another dimension to an already potent offense.

Smith caught six of 10 targets for 79 yards during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Smith caught the eye after the first-string offense left the game, leading the team in targets, receptions and receiving yardage. He was rather consistent, posting a long gain of 16 yards while averaging 13.2 yards per catch. Smith has made a name for himself in recent weeks and seems to be making the most of his opportunity to earn a roster spot. Another strong performance Thursday against the Buccaneers could do just that for him.

Smith caught three of five targets for 24 yards during Saturday's 14-10 preseason win over the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Smith tied for the team lead in targets while finishing second in catches and receiving yards. His long gain went for just 12 yards, but his involvement, beginning on the team's second series, was notable after an explosive preseason debut last week. Smith has impressed as camp has progressed and will look to continue making his case for a roster spot Saturday against the Texans.

Smith signed a reserve/future contract with the Cowboys on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith spent the entire 2018 season as a free agent after being released by the Jets in July. The 2015 second-round pick out of Ohio State has recorded 10 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown across 14 games in his NFL career, and will spend the offseason working to carve out a depth role in Dallas' receiver corps.

The Texans brought Smith in for a workout, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith is a former second-round draft pick out of Ohio State who was cut loose by the Jets in July. Houston could be looking at potential depth should Keke Coutee's hamstring injury keep him out of action this week and beyond. Smith, whose career has been impacted by a couple of ACL tears, has 10 career recptions for 135 yards since being drafted by the Jets in 2015.

The Jets released Smith (knee) on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
A 2015 second-round pick, Smith suited up in just 14 games during his three seasons with the Jets, with only four of those appearances coming in the last two years. A pair of ACL tears were the main culprits in Smith's demise, as the knee injuries robbed him of some of the explosiveness that made him a dangerous downfield threat during his college days at Ohio State. The 26-year-old is still working his way back from the knee surgery he required in April 2017 and will probably need to impress in workouts in the coming weeks before another team signs him to a contract.

Coach Todd Bowles indicated Tuesday that he doesn't anticipate Smith (knee) practicing until training camp, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith continues to work his way back from a torn ACL that landed him on injured reserve for all of the 2017 campaign. A second-round selection in 2015, he's never been close to living up to the billing, totaling 10 total catches over the first two seasons of his career. It's unclear how stable his roster spot is with the Jets entering 2018, but a good training camp showing would certainly help his cause.
