Funchess caught both of his targets for 22 yards Sunday in Tennessee.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie has just 12 receptions this season, and seems likely to fade right back into obscurity after recording a career-high 71 yards and a touchdown last week. Funchess continues to lag well behind Greg Olsen and Ted Ginn on quarterback Cam Newton's priority list.

Funchess caught three of his four targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's game against the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie set career-highs in catches and yardage in this one, and found the end zone for the first time in his career on a strong contested catch. Funchess has the opportunity to step into a larger role in the Carolina attack, with a lack of depth on the outside, and Sunday's game could get things rolling in the right direction. Funchess will look to build on Sunday's game against the Titans in Week 10.

Funchess caught one pass off of one target for eight yards in Monday's win over the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
Monday night's rain hardly provided ideal throwing conditions for the Panthers' offense, but Funchess' limited role is still worth noting. After being targeted four or more times in three of the first five games of the season, Funchess has seen just three passes come his way over in the past two games. Funchess' fellow receiver, Corey Brown, has seen five targets in each of the past two games, his two highest totals of the season. Funchess already held limited value as the third receiver in a run-heavy offense. Now it seems as though he has slipped to fourth on the totem pole.

Funchess nabbed one pass off of two targets for 20 yards in Sunday's win over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess is Carolina's third most targeted receiver with 21 passes having come his way through six games, but he's managed to turn just six of them into catches. Even if he were able to convert more of his targets into receptions, Funchess find himself as the third musketeer in a two-musketeer town. Greg Olsen and Ted Ginn Jr. have accounted for 45 percent of the team's receptions, 48 percent of the targets and 57 percent of the receiving yards. Compounding the situation is the fact that only six teams throw the ball less per game than the Panthers.

Funchess caught two passes (on six targets) for 24 yards in Sunday's win over the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess' performance Sunday was emblematic of his rookie season thus far, as a healthy amount of targets was met with underwhelming efficiency and production. Through the Panthers' first five games, only Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen and wideout Ted Ginn have seen more than Funchess' 19 targets, but his five catches and 62 yards leave much to be desired. The second-rounder is also yet to find the end zone heading into Sunday's game against the Eagles.

Funchess was held without a reception or a target in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess ranks third on the team with 13 targets through four games, but has been able to haul in just three. Cam Newton appears set on locking in on two more familiar targets, tight end Greg Olsen and wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., their 59 combined targets comprising almost half of Carolina's passing attempts. While a team's third receiving option is often a viable fantasy option, Funchess isn't likely to see typical third-option opportunities as the Panthers appear committed to running the ball, leading the league in carries through the first quarter of the season.

Funchess caught one pass (on four targets) for 14 yards in Sunday's win over the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess has been limited to one catch in each of his first three NFL games, but for the second straight week was the Panthers' third-most targeted receiver Sunday. One of the rookie's Week 3 targets came in the end zone, but he failed to make an adjustment needed to catch quarterback Cam Newton's pass. While Funchess will have to improve his efficiency and production to become a more noteworthy fantasy threat, his presence in Carolina's pass offense is at least encouraging.

Funchess caught one pass (on four targets) for 15 yards in Sunday's game against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess has gotten off to a slow start to his rookie campaign, as he's now totaled just 24 yards on two catches through Week 2. While that production is certainly underwhelming, it's worthwhile to point out that only two Panthers players were targeted more than Funchess on Sunday. That being said, Funchess is clearly still developing his role within Carolina's offense, so fantasy owners should consider his early season learning curve at this stage in his career.

Funchess caught one pass (on two targets) for nine yards in Sunday's season opener against the Jaguars.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess entered Sunday's game with hopes that he could help fill the void left by injured teammate Kelvin Benjamin (knee), but the rookie was hardly involved in Carolina's Week 1 passing attack. Nonetheless, Funchess has drawn encouraging reviews from practice, which bodes well for his development over the course of this season. At 6-4, 230 pounds, Funchess offers a unique target for quarterback Cam Newton, so his lackluster debut could very well be outweighed by successes down the road.

Coach Ron Rivera suggests that Funchess is "pushing" starters Philly Brown and Ted Ginn for work in the Panthers' wideout corps.
EDGE Analysis
The same applies to veteran Jerricho Cotchery, though Funchess' 6-foot-4 frame gives him some intriguing upside down the road in an offense trying to deal with a season-ending injury to top wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. At this stage, neither of the quartet are high-percentage fantasy plays, though we hope to have a better idea of how things might pan out on that front after Week 1's action.
