Funchess secured two of five targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 24-10 Super Bowl loss to the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
The Michigan product's highlight of the game was a key 24-yard grab on third down late in the second quarter, helping to extend a Panthers drive that ultimately ended at the Denver 45-yard line as the half came to a close. Funchess was only able to tally one other reception despite fellow receiver Corey Brown's third-quarter exit with a concussion. Despite a slow start to his rookie campaign, Funchess came on to record 24 receptions and five touchdowns over the last nine weeks of the regular season, and he and the returning Kelvin Benjamin (knee) will serve as a pair of formidable targets for Cam Newton in 2016.

Funchess caught two of three passes for 21 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's NFC championship game win versus the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess resided at a miserable 90 yards receiving and no touchdowns through the first seven games of his career, but a strict schedule has been followed in the interim. Namely, he's recorded a touchdown every other game on his way to six over the last 11 contests. He's supplemented those forays into the end zone with 27 receptions (on 46 targets) for 416 yards, though his looks have been all over the map (from one to eight) during that run.

Funchess reeled in seven of eight targets for 120 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
No Ted Ginn Jr.? No problem. The rookie put together the best game of his young career in the season finale, setting high marks in catches and yards. Funchess has run hot and cold for the better part of two months, scoring a touchdown every other week since Week 9. With no clear-cut third option in the passing game behind Greg Olsen and Ginn, Funchess may be a fair bet to strike again in the playoffs, especially if Carolina draws a favorable matchup such as Washington.

Funchess failed to haul in his lone target during Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess' goose egg Sunday reiterated his hit-or-miss fantasy value lately. While the rookie has scored in every other game since Week 9, his usually low yardage output hardly provides compensation for when he doesn't find pay dirt. That being said, if teammate Ted Ginn is troubled by the calf injury he picked up Sunday, Funchess could at least benefit from added looks this weekend against the Buccaneers.

Funchess snagged two passes off of seven targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess has seen four or more targets in four of the last five games, as many as he had in the first nine games of the season. The rookie, who has earned a 15 to 14 split in targets with fellow receiver Philly Brown over the past three weeks, may be a tempting pickup for owners desperate to get in on the action as Carolina has topped 30 points five straight weeks. Two things to note, however: One, Funchess has scored in every other game over the past seven weeks, a pattern that would keep him out of the end zone in Week 16. More importantly, the Panthers face off against a Falcons defense that has surrendered the fifth fewest number of passing touchdowns in the league this season.

Funchess saw five passes come his way during Sunday's win over Atlanta, bringing in three for 25 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess had one multi-catch game through Week 8. He has recorded five such games in the six games since, scoring all three of his touchdowns this season during the span. Quarterback Cam Newton has been in rare form in recent weeks, upping the value of his receiving corps. Funchess is still third or fourth in the pecking order behind Ted Ginn Jr., Greg Olsen, maybe, Corey Brown. Should Olsen miss any time with a knee injury, however, Funchess could move up a slot.

Funchess caught one pass (on three targets) for 13 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess' lone catch proved important Sunday, as he managed to score a touchdown in a game the Panthers ultimately only won by three points. Additionally, the rookie's latest trip to the end zone gave him a score in three of his last five games. Although Funchess has only topped the 50-yard mark twice this season, his gradual progress in the Panthers' passing game is at least encouraging as the regular season winds down.

Funchess caught 2-of-4 targets for 19 yards in Thursday's win over the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Unsurprisingly, the Panthers went with a run-dominant approach offensively that resulted in little volume to go around for Funchess and the rest of the Panthers' receiving corps. Though Funchess' output was a rather modest one, his production still outpaced supposed No. 1 receiver Ted Ginn, who saw zero targets. Funchess could potentially have better success in Week 13 against the Saints' paper-thin pass defense, but with the 11-0 Panthers having little incentive to change up their offensive game plan, a large workload can't be guaranteed for the rookie.

Funchess caught four of his eight targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie led the balanced Carolina offense in targets and yards in what turned out to be a blowout win, finding the end zone for the second time in three weeks. Funchess appears to be stepping into a larger role after an inauspicious start to the year, as he is now averaging 58.7 yards over his last three games. Funchess will look to continue his recent progress when the Panthers visit the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

Funchess will make his first career start if teammate Philly Brown (shoulder) is unable to play Sunday against the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
Funchess' inclusion in the Panthers' starting lineup seems likely, since Brown is considered doubtful for Sunday's contest. Should that indeed transpire, Funchess' fantasy value would seemingly stand to benefit, although his inconsistent play and the Panthers' preference to run the ball would make him tough to rely on.
