Speaking Tuesday, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said DeMarcus Ware "tweaked" his quad/thigh in Sunday's return to the lineup. Ware appeared to do more than "tweak" the injury - there were times in Dallas' blowout loss that he was literally dragging his leg - but he still managed to notch three tackles and a sack. Ware will likely be limited in practice when the Cowboys return from their Week 11 bye, but should be ready to roll for Week 12.

The Cowboys consider DeMarcus Ware (quadriceps) doubtful for Week 9. The team still plans to put Ware through a pre-game workout to see if he can play against the Vikings, but Dallas should be smart enough to know it can whip Minnesota without risking an aggravation to its injured best defender. In all likelihood, Ware will be inactive Sunday and return in a week or two.

DeMarcus Ware (quad) calls himself a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt with the Vikings. Ware has yet to resume practicing, but said he no longer has any swelling, and that the soreness is "mostly gone." The tea leaves suggest Ware will miss one more game, but that he'll be back for Week 10.

DeMarcus Ware (quad) is not practicing this week. The Cowboys have already said they're going to exercise extreme caution with their most valuable defender. He was originally hit with a 3-4 week timetable after pulling his quadriceps in Week 6. Backup Kyle Wilbur has four tackles, one sack and one forced fumble over the last two weeks.

Jerry Jones said the team will exercise extreme caution with DeMarcus Ware (quad). "We want to watch this," Jones said. "He's got the type of injury that if it comes back to fast, he doesn't have a tear there now, he doesn't have an imperfection. If he tries and goes to early he could get an imperfection that's another world relative to how he'll be back." Ware is among the most valuable defenders in the league and the Cowboys are sitting pretty with a 3-0 record in the putrid NFC East. We'd be surprised if he played in Sunday's game against the Lions.

ESPN Dallas says "there is an expectation" that DeMarcus Ware (quad) could return for Week 8. Ware's 134 consecutive games played streak was snapped Sunday as he's inactive. But Jerry Jones says the All-Pro defensive end would have played if it were a playoff game, making the original 3-4 week timetable Ware was slapped with appear off base. Kyle Wilbur is Ware's direct backup.

Profootballtalk reports Cowboys RE DeMarcus Ware (quad) is not expected to play Sunday against the Eagles. Ware is listed as doubtful on the injury report, so this doesn't come as a surprise. He did travel with the team to Philadelphia, however, and will give it a test in pregame warm-ups. Kyle Wilber will get the start if Ware can't go.

Cowboys RE DeMarcus Ware (quad) will travel with the team to Philadelphia and has declared himself a game-time decision for Week 7. "I'm not going to be out three or four weeks," Ware said. "I don't know where that came from, but somebody said it. My recovery's pretty fast, and I'm feeling pretty good today." Ware has never missed a game in his NFL career and is a very quick healer. IF he can't go, Kyle Wilber will start in his place.
