Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware will undergo right shoulder surgery on Thursday, but doesn't have an elbow operation scheduled "as of now."
Ware said he'd need both shoulder and elbow surgeries following Dallas' season-ending loss, so today's news is actually a net positive. It's unclear how serious Ware's shoulder operation will be, but he should be 100 percent well ahead of camp. Ware's mobility was significantly hampered down the stretch, but he still graded out as a top-12 3-4 outside linebacker in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Speaking following Sunday's loss, Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware said he needs offseason surgery on both his right shoulder and elbow.
Ware's injuries reduced him to a shell of his usual self down the stretch, and mostly limited him to passing downs in Sunday's season-ending loss. Although Ware is seemingly constantly injured, he still graded out as one of the better 3-4 outside linebackers in Pro Football Focus' ratings this season, and has never missed a game in his eight-year career.

The Cowboys are considering limiting DeMarcus Ware (elbow, shoulder) to passing situations in Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Ware could be used strictly as a pass rusher after not practicing at all this week, and is expected to play with a shoulder harness and elbow brace on Sunday. He missed the majority of Week 16 against the Saints and has been playing at significantly less than 100 percent down the stretch. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Ware may need surgery in the offseason.

Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware will play Sunday night's game against the Redskins donning a shoulder harness and elbow brace.
Although his effectiveness has been compromised, Ware has earned praise from teammates for playing at significantly less than 100 percent down the stretch. The harness is to prevent against Ware's shoulder "popping out again." He also has a hyperextended elbow. Ware was able to participate on just 59-of-95 plays in Week 16 against the Saints and has 1.5 sacks over his last five games.

Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware may need offseason right shoulder surgery.
"I can answer that, but I'm not going to answer that," Ware said Thursday. "Maybe. Maybe not. Wait to the end of the season to see." It sounds like the perennial Pro Bowler will indeed need to undergo some sort of operation. Ware has battled shoulder and elbow issues all year long, but he has yet to miss a game. He's fully expected to suit up for Week 17 versus the Redskins despite not practicing at all this week. Ware has recorded 11.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 2012.

Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware (shoulder) is expected to play in Sunday night's showdown with the Redskins.
Ware played on just 59-of-95 defensive snaps against the Saints last week while battling a right shoulder strain. The man who has never missed an NFL game in his career had an MRI Monday. "Divisional championship game, Sunday night," Ware said. "Should I keep going?" Slowed by shoulder, hamstring and elbow issues this season, he has "only" 11.5 sacks.

Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware revealed that he's battling a hyperextended elbow this week.
Ware will play with a brace on Sunday. The Steelers injury-depleted offensive line had Ben Roethlisberger on the run for the majority of his dropbacks while the game still remained close last week.

Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware (flu, ribs) said he came out of Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Giants feeling fine.
Ware didn't practice all week due to a chest cold and then took a cleat to the ribs from Ahmad Bradshaw in the first quarter. He's not worried about either ailment going forward. Ware has 7.5 sacks in seven games this season after racking up 19.5 in 16 games last year.

DaMarcus Ware (flu) did not practice this week, but is expected to play in Week 8.
Ware is listed as probable on the Cowboys' injury report. "He'll play, I'm sure he will. He's been sick. He's been battling that hamstring all year and all this other stuff and now the illness, but there's only one DeMarcus Ware, and he'll be out there on Sunday. Does he need all the work? I'm going to say no," said defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
