Keenum completed four of nine passes for 60 yard and a touchdown and added a 10-yard run during Thursday's 30-10 loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
All eyes were on rookie Dwayne Haskins on Thursday, but Keenum provided Washington with one of its few highlights, launching a 46-yard bomb to a wide-open Robert Davis for the team's only touchdown. After battling it out with Colt McCoy this offseason, Keenum is penciled in at No. 2. That's no man's land on a team that figures to start a veteran early, but eventually put Haskins on display at some point this season.

Keenum will start Thursday's preseason game in Cleveland, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Colt McCoy (foot) sidelined, Keenum, rookie Dwayne Haskins and Josh Woodrum will be the quarterbacks at coach Jay Gruden's disposal. Keenum is listed as the No. 2 QB on the current depth chart, but performance over the next month ultimately will determine the breakdown for the regular season.

Keenum is listed as the backup quarterback on the Redskins' first unofficial depth chart, Ryan Fowler and Kyle Stackpole of the team's official site report.
EDGE Analysis
By all indications, Keenum seems to be taking a majority of the reps with the first-team offense during training camp, but Colt McCoy's experience in coach Jay Gruden's system has resulted in his placement at No. 1. Meanwhile, 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins is the third-stringer. The Redskins have four preseason games to parse out who among the three is deserving of the Week 1 start, but all of them are getting a shot to prove their worth to the coaching staff and management.

Keenum took the first snap Monday during team drills, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Keenum was followed by first-round pick Dwayne Haskins, while Colt McCoy (leg) remains sidelined but is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp. JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington observed a noticeable difference between Keenum and Haskins during Monday's practice, with the rookie holding a large edge in terms of both size and arm strength, while the veteran has a quicker release and better mobility. Both quarterbacks are learning new play-calling terminology from coach Jay Gruden, who has been clear about his intention to stage a three-way QB competition. Regardless, Finlay believes Haskins' ascension to the starting job "is a matter of when, not if."

Coach Jay Gruden said No. 15 overall draft pick Dwayne Haskins will compete with Keenum and Colt McCoy (leg) for the starting quarterback job, ESPN.com's John Keim reports. "Well, if you are a 15th pick of the draft, I think you have to give him the opportunity, without a doubt," Gruden said. "We feel good about the guys we have in the building for sure, but when you take a guy in the first round, you have to give him a chance to compete."
EDGE Analysis
Keenum would've been the favorite in a battle against McCoy, who's currently recovering from a third surgery after some complications with the fractured fibula he suffered Dec. 3. Things become far more interesting with Haskins in the mix, as the rookie has a large advantage over Keenum when it comes to size (6-foot-3, 231 pounds) and arm strength. Washington doesn't have much invested in Keenum and McCoy; both are entering contract seasons with cap hits below $4 million. Alex Smith (leg) isn't expected to play in 2019 and ultimately may be forced to retire.

The Broncos have agreed to deal Keenum and a 2020 seventh-round pick to the Redskins for a 2020 sixth-round pick, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. The trade will be official Wednesday, per Klis.
EDGE Analysis
After agreeing to terms of a trade for Joe Flacco last month, the Broncos were in a holding pattern with Keenum, a free-agent splash last offseason. Additional terms of the deal include the Broncos giving Keenum a $500,000 restructure bonus and covering $3.5 million of his $7 million salary for the 2019 season. The Redskins are expected to allow Keenum and Colt McCoy to battle for the starting role in the absence of Alex Smith, who may not play again due to a severe leg injury suffered last November.

Keenum is a candidate to be traded from Denver to Washington, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
EDGE Analysis
With Joe Flacco in line to be acquired by the Broncos, Keenum is obviously expendable, and Washington is looking for QB help due to Alex Smith's serious leg injury. In any case, if Keenum does end up in Washington, he'd have to to compete with Colt McCoy for the team's starting job.

Keenum likely will be traded or released after the Broncos agreed to acquire fellow quarterback Joe Flacco, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Broncos would love to find a trade partner even if the compensation is menial, as they'll have to pay the guaranteed portion ($7 million) of Keenum's $18 million base salary if they end up cutting him. He'd need to accept a pay cut -- an unlikely proposition -- to have any chance at staying in Denver. Keenum collected $18 million from the Broncos in 2018, completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 6.6 yards per attempt with an 18:15 TD:INT as a 16-game starter in an injury-laden offense. He looked like a high-end backup more so than a solid starter, but his breakout 2017 campaign in Minnesota suggests he's good enough to win games when he's surrounded by a talented roster and competent coaching staff.

The Broncos' impending trade for Joe Flacco likely marks the end of Keenum's tenure as the starting quarterback in Denver, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Signed to a two-year, $36 million contract last offseason, Keenum failed to replicate his Minnesota magic from 2017, completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 6.6 yards per attempt with an 18:15 TD:INT as a 16-game starter for the Broncos. The team can free up $11 million in cap space if Keenum is removed from the roster, while any team that trades for him would inherit an $18 million base salary that includes $7 million guaranteed, per overthecap.com. The significant commitment limits his trade value, but it shouldn't preclude some level of interest. There's also some chance -- however small -- the Broncos could retain Keenum and allow him to compete with Flacco for the starting job.

Broncos general manager John Elway recently described Keenum as "probably a short-term fix", Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Post reports. "Obviously, we've got to - Case is probably a short-term fix - find the long-term guy for us," Elway said. "When we do find that guy, we've got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there.
EDGE Analysis
Elway seems to have abandoned any hope of Keenum being the franchise quarterback, but that doesn't mean the 30-year-old won't return for the second season of his two-year, $36 million contract. Keenum was at least competent in 2018, completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 6.6 yards per attempt with 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. It was a big step back from his breakout 2017 campaign in Minnesota, though he did keep the Broncos in the playoff hunt until they closed out their campaign with four consecutive losses. Picking at No. 10 overall in a draft that appears weak at quarterback, the Broncos may have a tough time landing a clear upgrade on Keenum in the offseason, but they do at least have a decent cap situation to add talent at other positions. New head coach Vic Fangio named former 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello as his offensive coordinator for a unit that will largely rely on second-year players Phillip Lindsay, Royce Freeman, Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton.
